Trump again trying to deflect his own very poor response to this crisis. 1900 deaths just in the last 24 hours in the US of A:

https://thehill.com/policy/healthca...ports-highest-one-day-coronavirus-death-total

The CBC here in Canada was broadcasting dailly updates from the WHO from mid January onward that this virus was a serious world health threat and on the verge of being classified as a pandemic. If Trump had been watching a real news channel instead of Fox, he might have known that. Also from the article above:

"The president also downplayed the significance of two memos from White House trade adviser Peter that underscored the dangers posed by COVID-19 in January, saying he didn’t read them up until one or two days ago.".

As I stated in the title, pathetic.

Trump’s obviously an easy target for we north of the 49th, but here is a fairly comprehensive summary of his ignorance, psychopathy and incompetence during this pandemic (penned by no less than David Frum - Canadian and former speechwriter for the younger Bush president).

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/a...-paying-the-price-for-trumps-failures/609532/

Taken together his actions are a staggering record of failure with no parallel. Will 42% of the Americans finally acknowledge this come November when the US is officially in recession and possibly heading toward a depression? And as the writer notes, a great deal of the pain is yet to come could have been mitigated by pretty much anyone else in charge.

Then again, maybe he’s smarter than all of us and is using this opportunity to loot the US coffers. He did just dismiss the Penatagon official who was in charge of oversight for the $2 trillion bailout package. I have a feeling his son-in-law - the equally slimy Jared Kushner - will somehow find his way into that file.

Our leadership (across all levels of government) has been Churhillian in comparison.

Despite Trump's leadership being an unmitigated disaster, I am deeply worried that his hardcore base of support will still carry the day and he will be reelected in November.

Yah! And he blames China for not telling the truth..We now know that he is as guilty as what he is blaming China for not doing! That con-man doesn't has a soul. So sad to see all these people have to suffer and die because of him. It should not have been like this. God! I can't really understand why some people still believe and support him. With $2T at his disposal and with latest firing of the Glen Fine, the Coronavirus Spending Watchdog. I think he will become the richest man in the entire universe and includes all his republican friends.

i’ll agree with all Trump call outs you posted. CHURCHILLIAN. ha Our leadership has been mostly wet melba toast and I use that analogy because of the IMMEDIATE DIRECT and SWIFT approach that New Zealand has taken. NO rideau cottage wait and see BS. here it is... https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...ab3a4a-7822-11ea-a311-adb1344719a9_story.html

Just to be clear, I did not call any of the Canadian leaders Churchill, but did qualify the statement with the term "by comparison," and used the term "Churhillian" as a means to convey qualities of Churchill. In comparison to Trump, pretty much any official who can stand and breathe has shown more leadership.

fair enough. the concern should be the decisions that the CDC and Head health officials, both Federal and Provincial, are making. More mandatory and actually MONITORED measures were needed IMHO at airports and every public place, fines day one.

With Bernie Sanders dropping out of the race today, the Novemeber election has been handed over to Trump. No way will Biden get in. Watch him get trounced at the debates.

They’re just funnelling it through Kushner’s three week old shell company for massive profiteering

Want to know how it works?

1) Eliminate oversight of the spending of nearly a trillion dollars of tax dollars: https://thehill.com/regulation/cour...lus-opens-new-front-in-trumps-oversight-fight

2) Aquire the authority to command which businesses get which contracts: https://youtu.be/MlQx7Qs2ACI

3.) Have trusted people stand up companies through which the money can be funnelled (3 week old company, founded through a loan approved via the Coronavirus Stimulus bill, is now the center of medical supply distribution): https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/27/republican-fundraiser-company-coronavirus-152184 “I don’t want to overstate, but we probably represent the largest global supply chain for Covid-19 supplies right now,” he said. “We are getting ready to fill 100 million-unit mask orders.”

4) Have the federal government sell, at a reduced price, it’s strategic stockpile to the new companies, run by your buddies: https://twitter.com/DavidBegnaud/status/1245841458323771393

5) Have the states bid on the supplies, driving up the price: https://youtu.be/2zeEUs7tcpE

6) Have the federal government spend taxpayer dollars to ship supplies purchased from China to these brand new private companies: https://www.npr.org/sections/corona...witter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_term=nprnews

7) Eliminate the competition. Attack any company that doesn’t play ball. https://mothership.sg/2020/04/trump-3m-10-million-masks/
Congress and the Supreme Court aren’t going to do shit. Neither is Biden or the DNC.

Fun fact: the position with the highest constitutional power is the county sheriff. They have the ability to block feds from entering and leaving the county. A few did this back during the whole “extraordinary rendition” thing whenever that was.

While it is true that a significant percentage of the American people were fooled into voting for Trump last time, I believe that a significant percentage of those fooled now see that the emperor is definitely not weaaring any clothing and will vote for ANYONE other than Trump. Biden does not have to say anything in the debates except to repeat outloud the mantra "Trump - you are a fucking idiot and the majority of Americans want you gone". Hard to fuck that up lol.

Your grand strategy is basically to not take ones opponent seriously?!?!? Think about that for one minute. That's what "they" did the last time. They being the other Republican Primary candidates. They being the Democratic Party. The old saying is "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again." It doesn't mean "try, try again the very same thing that caused you to fail the first time." Food for thought, right! Here's some sage advice, don't ever count out the person who was never suppose to be there in the first place;)

Where are Sheriffs mentioned in the Constitution?

I think US Marshals have the most power?

I think the individual that posted the "fun fact" may be a believer in the sovereign citizen movement - they have a "belief" that the county sheriff is the highest law enforcement officer in the US.

Uh.. what? How is that even remotely related to sovereign citizens?

Maybe that was worded incorrectly. In most states, the county sheriff is indeed the highest level of law enforcement. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheriffs_in_the_United_States

Much as was the case 4 years ago, the only reason why, is the weak opposition.
