Can we trust the World Health Organization with respect to Covid-19

Here are reports from two news sources on different ends of the political spectrum regarding China and its ties with the World Health Organization which would lead one to believe that you cannot believe anything that they say with regards to how China has and is dealing with the virus.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/14/asia/coronavirus-who-china-intl-hnk/index.html

And watch our Canadian friend here who is high up in the WHO bureaucracy and how he deals with the Taiwan question from the Hong Kong interviewer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iu3lm0W6saU

What I can gather from this is that the WHO is completely willing to let a foreign country dangle in the wind with no aid putting millions of people in jeopardy from citizens to those who passed through Taiwan because China has told them not to, and that makes any information provided by the WHO concerning China is highly dubious at best considering the sway that China holds over them and that would be in regard to the initial spread of the virus and their actual success in shutting it down.

Governments are just blaming on everyone else. Instead of saying what other people should have done, ask yourself what you have done. Don't try to cover your mistake with other parties' inaction. Why not prove WHO's incompetence by doing a better job here in Canada? WHO can't close countries, close schools, businesses, can't make masks, PPE, toilet paper, WHO can't research vaccine, can't cure patients. Yet people direct so much attention towards WHO, maybe it's just to redirect the heat away from the government who is responsible and has the resources to fight the pandemic?

I still can't find toilet paper in stores. Anyone know if Scotts Paper is still operating? I know there are more important things to worry about, but is it too much to ask for some toilet paper?

One thing the WHO has become great at is spewing CCP propaganda

In 1997 Scotts was bought out by Kruger and the mill is working double time to churn out more paper! Dont worry!

Glad that is more important to you than the fact that China has been lying to us through the WHO who are helping to cover up their crimes in first not immediately revealing the existence of the virus which caused its spread, and now it appears about the success of China in controlling the spread of the virus through their own population. If we were to believe that it was successful and tried to emulate what they say they have done it could prolong the pandemic and cost many more lives. It appears that rather than being world saviors, WHO officials are engaging in criminal and corrupt behavior, at least at the very top and are very dangerous people, certainly to those who live in or have visited Taiwan recently.

But then again, each of us have our priorities.

Rows of boxes of facial tissue, cheaper per wipe.

which is exactly what Turdeau and Tam have been using for failures/actions, being 3 months behind all this time?

they keep quoting the WHO told them, the WHO recommends this/that

we already have people making excuses for their complete failure to act properly and timely

after Sars, they stockpiled, the Canada Health Agency, Tam's, then let those supplies expire for recommend use

then, never replaced them, gave them away to other agencies to use up before that time, replace them

you know, like any 6th grader would have been able to plan

how much money are we wasting on the WHO, is it anywhere the 400 million we give the UN?

it's time to stop relying on these corrupt org's

just fucking stop with these ridiculous finger pointing assertions that the WHO is somehow connected to some grand conspiracy and a finger puppet of China!

the WHO is an international body without any formal power over ANYTHING. there are no international mandates that require any country to participate or share information with them at all! from their very mouths, they rely on other countries to participate on the honor code, because they have no power. from the WHO's perspective, they are just reporting what those countries like China have to say about their situations with full knowledge that it may not exactly be correct. but at the same time they believe that having incorrect information is better than no information at all and that placating certain powers is the only way to keep dialogue going. this is rather common stuff for non-profit international organizations who are at the mercy of those they report on for funding.

people really need to get a grip. if anything we need to finance the WHO properly and give them the international power that they need.

Couple of friends who are data geeks told me the WHO did not have a proper death code for covid mortalities.
Such deaths were entered into the data stream under other causes ie pneumonia.
Now they are being entered properly so there may be changes in statistics.
Also coroners in some jurisdictions are overwhelmed, and proper documentation is not the first priority in hospitals right now.

These charts compare normal deaths against an unusual surplus number of deaths which may or may not be attributable to COVID-19.
(I think they probably are)
This is not a conspiracy, it is results of vastly backlogged healthcare and administrators.

Did you just say that a supposedly reputable organization that is a UN specialized agency with its parent organization being the UN Economic and Social Council spreading disinformation is better than having no information at all???? Really? I personally would think that is an extremely dangerous proposition.

And how on the one hand can you accuse people of calling WHO a finger puppet of China being wrong and in the same breath say that they have to placate certain countries to maintain a dialogue. So which is it?

I think its pretty obvious that the WHO IS a finger puppet of China and in the rare instance that both FOX and CNN actually agree on something it has to be given a lot of credence. Just watching that Canadian WHO official dodging the Taiwan question through every means possible tells you everything.

Is pooning withdrawal affecting the mental capacity of people on this forum? Or have they always been feeble minded conspiracy theorists? The WHO has been warning the world for months that this was coming. Most countries have willfully chosen to turn a deaf ear and not begin preparations. Our ignorance and lack of preparation is now kicking our collective asses. This is not the World Health Organization's fault.
