Canada has pulled out of the Olympics. Not at all likely they are going to be h eld on time but I like the display of leadership.

A premature decision.

1. No time to discuss this now. And there is no need to rush. There are more important things now.
2. Should have waited for the IOC decision first.

Not really, until the infection rate goes down, (that means the number of people testing positive for Covid-19) goes down and has a continuing decline until it is flat for a month (2 times the 14 days isolation); then society can come out of the bunkers....

That might be 3 or 4 months..... or more if people are being ignorant and socializing... cause even if you don't show symptoms, you are definitely a carrier.... which is how the virus is spreading now, through individuals that are infected, but don't show symptoms.....

It only takes one person to infect others, especially at a big event as the Olympics.... (People come from all over the world) and go back to their countries, starting the clock again......

I sucks for the athletes as been preparing for this for years . It sucks for Japan as poured 100's of millions if not Billions into this event . Really sucks for eveyone but think it's a good idea to postpone for maybe a year . I realize postponing has its own set of issues with the athletes, venues and everyone else. But this virus won't be contained by the summer. Safest bet for all . IMHO

A pat on the back to the Canadian Olympic Committee for showing leadership. I just hope that many more will follow.

Agree. That actually took some balls to be the first country to pull out.

Not premature. Athletes in Canada and all over the world need to isolate, not just train like fuk leading up to the games, and make/cancel plans, take risks, and worry.

Safety first.

Pulling out now protects our athletes, coaches and support team. No point forcing them to train for an Olympic that is almost certain to be postponed. Bravo Canada!

The IOC are still seeing only $$$, and the Japanese do not want to admit defeat, but there is really no way in hell the games are happening. Not unless they add "grave digging" as a new event.

They should just postpone it one year.
