Worldwide toilet paper shortage, and why don't people take vitamins to boost immunity

Have people gone completely crazy? Toilet paper is foremost on their minds during an infectious disease of the respiratory tract? Are they breathing through their ass or mouth? Why don't they be less wasteful and cleaner (now is a good opportunity), and use one tissue paper and then go into the shower and clean their ass properly. All this hoarding in general, shows what sheep people are. Here's something funny: I read an article about a woman with several kids who has a bidet in all her bathrooms, and will use those bidets as "a last resort" if her hoards of toilet paper run out! Absolute insanity!!

Also, doctors talk about different medications to be taken when infected with COVID-19. No one talks about the importance of vitamins/supplements in boosting immunity - chief among them being Vitamin C, and not crappy chewables and Centrum, but Ester-C by Sisu (600 mg capsules). I have been taking the latter everyday after breakfast for many years, along with New Chapter every man's one daily Multivitamin (made with organic vegetables and herbs), Magnesium capsules, Omega 3, Ubiquinol etc...six pills in all. I haven't gotten a cold, flu, or any illness in at least four years, and I have never taken a flu shot (bad for you). I don't remember the last time I got even a mild sore throat. Depleted soils compared to the past, is another reason to take these supplements. My grandfather started taking them in his 50's and lived to 103.

I know that if I get COVID-19 I will get only the mildest symptoms, and not because I'm in the right age group, but because my immune system has been boosted to the skies. The symptoms will last no more than a mild flu with me.

People should take vitamins, get good sleep, stay away from crowds, and stop acting like crazed lunatics.

VOX: No, Vitamin C won't cure your cold

Equally, vitamins are a scam. Too much of some can even be harmful. Taking Vitamin b12 can make you more likely to get Gout for example.

Just like the current situation, people should listen to Scientists and Doctors, not hype, rumors, and social media.

No, everyone else doesn't buy Vitamin C, and that's a fact. And vitamins/supplements are not a scam, at least not for me, as, again, I have not gotten a cold or illness in several years - while many around me have. I don't give a crap what media outlets, and doctors who would rather you stay unhealthy, state about the issue. Lastly, "too much" of many things can be "harmful", which is why you follow instructions on the products you buy. "For example", I have never gotten "gout" in my life.

That is not a scientific study, nor is it proof of anything. Lots of studies have been done on Vitamin C supplements and found it doesn't do dick all other than give you a higher chance of kidney stones.

I highly suggest you do some actual research into what you are buying. Check out a documentary called Vitamania.

I'll just leave this thread with one word: Science

Maybe you should have read my entire original post, before mentioning "science." Everyone in my family (parents, siblings, grandparents) take, or have taken vitamins/supplements, and none have ever had "kidney stones." One of them lived to 103, dying peacefully in sleep. And you failed to mention the science that has shown Vitamin C, especially the best kind (as mentioned in my original post), to be vital in boosting immunity, the maintenance of cartilage and bones, the absorption of iron, guarding against cardiovascular disease etc...

We all need vitamins, but they are more than likely already in your diet. There is no evidence that taking excessive amounts of a vitamin in pill form, many times what a person could actually ingest naturally, is beneficial. There have been studies that show the opposite can be true. Vitamin C has been studied considerably... companies like to sell things, but it doesn't mean there is actually a significant benefit. The entire myth about Vitamin C actually started from one guy, who said he took some and didn't get sick... that's it... no study.. nothing.. just one guy.. and it got written in a newspaper and here we are. There have been studies about it, but the rumor persists because... marketing.

I'm happy to hear about your friends and family having a healthy life, but the fact that they take vitamins is simply a coincidence; nothing more. You would need to have a significant shortage in your diet to see a benefit.

Consider an analogy: When you were young, you might have written letters to Santa Claus asking that he would bring you specific toys on Christmas morning. You may have taken the fact that you received the toys you requested as reason to continue believing that Santa Claus was real. Of course, when you got older, you discovered that your gifts had actually come from Mom or Dad or some other human being who loved and cared about you.

But then again, there is some real truth to the placebo effect.

Firstly, I thought you stated you were "leaving this thread." Secondly, I'm sure readers of this thread stopped taking you seriously when you stated "everyone" buys Vitamin C, as they do toilet paper. Thirdly, of course scientific research yields contrasting results, but I have shown the research that proves my point (as to the effectiveness of vitamins). Lastly, it takes more than "the placebo effect" to keep one from getting a cold, flu, or other illness for over four years, and to keep one healthy for decades (grandfather). I'm done with this argument.

Not everyone needs vitamin supplements, not everyone buys them, Some people do need them due to an imbalance in their diet, an inability to process them from food form or a deficiency due to genetic reasons.

Have to agree with this one. I've never had a flu shot in my adult life. Had minor flu twice years and years ago
The odd minor cold thankfully as I have a health concern so flu's , colds knock me on my butt.
The best way for vitamin intake is through what you eat. Fruits, vegetables , etc all contain enough nutrients and vitamins to live a long healthy life. Look it up Big Jack. What your hearing about supplements is advertising . Their simply selling a product . Plain & Simple. The placebo effect is a thing .

Interestingly in the past I used to take every kind of vitamins, very good quality as a matter a fact. I stopped taking them 1.5 Year now and I only take D vitamin and iron and multi when I remember. I drink my home made Kombucha, home made kefir and I eat my daily oranges.
I eat very clean and do my daily activities regularly. Works for me haven't been sick for about 2 years and my allergy I had is gone. I never get headache or stomach ache, or any monthly woman issue.
I think most people make the mistake when they get sick they start taking every kind of pills, vitamins, fruits et...
IMO, prevent it before it occurs ...but you do what you believe in.

Vitamins are a big waste of money, folks need to learn how to cook and maybe eat the odd piece of fruits and veg.

I've been asked several times over the weekend, if I stalked up on toilet paper as Well, and jokingly responded with " If worse comes to worse, Ill stalk up on Cat littter and and get my own box. "

I wondered what my cat might think about this move.

It appears the co vid is the talk of all communities.

We have our very own TP manufacturing plant in New West. It's extremely unlikely we'll ever run out. Fears of TP shortage had its origins in Japan where it's mostly imported.
