How to do deposits from outside Canada?

Hello everyone,

I'm going to be visiting your lovely city next week, and I've run into some complications trying to send a deposit to one of the ladies I want to see next week. How do you ladies or gents do deposits if it is required? My bank requires a First and Last name of the recipient, so that's probably out of the question unless they want to provide that information. Also, I've tried sending an Amazon gift card, but Amazon flagged my account and cancelled the transaction as they felt someone had unauthorized access to my account.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

I’m not going to get into how complicated it is to send money across the border, especially when one or more parties are anonymous. If she’s fine with an Amazon GC, just buy some from any grocery store or gas station when you arrive and send her a pic of the code. Easy.

THanks for the suggestion. It's ridiculous how difficult they make this whole process. You'd think I'd have more control over my own money.

I’m guessing it’s to fight organized crime and terrorism but yeah there should be an easier way to send a few hundred bucks, for sure. Also, make sure the cards are from HER side of the border. Most American GCs and prepaid credit cards don’t work up here.

How about if SPs got a post office box or a box at UPS or Mail Boxes Etc., or some private postal outlet like that and accept cheques.

TIL, thanks. That would've been my plan B.

I think you can call Amazon to get your account unflagged. I've only had that happen twice from senders from the US, otherwise it works perfectly 99% of the time :)

Transferwise and OFX.com are two good ways to transfer across borders. I have people in the US send Interac e-transfers to Canada using Transferwise.

Is this like western union? I don't think it would be anonymous in that case. Anonymity is probably up there in importance and priority for both sending and receiving parties.

Can you create another amazon account with a different email?
Have you got any friends in canada you can send the money to, who would then be okay with transferring the amount to the sp for you?

I have purchased amazon giftcards, using cryptocurrency, and used it as a deposit.
