I don't think quitting this 'hobby' is as hard as you might think. I am a living proof of that. I have quit over 50 times since I started 5+ years ago. In last year alone, I quit about ten times. If I can do it, anyone can.
On a more serious note, I have not really quit because I am still enjoying it. But I have slowed down, a lot. From three or four every month in 2014, I gradually cut it down to once every 3 weeks in 2017 to once a month now. I have managed to stay off for over two months at least three four times.
Based on personal experience, I feel that it is not easy to quit, but you can certainly manage it better.
