"His resignation comes as a direct result of new revelations that he was using Conservative Party money to pay for his children's private schooling, according to Conservative sources who spoke with Global News.

Senior Conservatives say the expenditures were made without the knowledge or approval of the Conservative fund board, including the chair of the board."

Con leader pulling a Con on his own party, just like his employment history.

This was going on pre-election too! While he was STEALING from the CPC, he was accusing Trudeau of "a complete lack of judgement and integrity" due to the blackface fiasco.

IRONY.

Well at least it was the Conservative Party's money. As tax payers, how much are we paying for Trudeau's nanny and to travel his wife and children around the would? Only one child went to the NATO conference, what was he there for? Monitor the sock choices?

Edit. Sorry. Nannies

Worse? What world do you live in???

To my knowledge, theft is a CRIMINAL offense.

How about you send me your bank card and PIN so I can help myself. Thanks! Because hey, at least I'm not wearing blackface.

If Scheer is the best the Con party could come up with...I'd hate to see the worst.

Best of luck to him, he gets a nice pension for life, since being in parliament since 2005?? A positive new outlook for the Conservatives.

The next Conservative Leader will be female.... This will assay the pro-life agenda that hangs around any Christian fundamentalists in the party...

The conservative have to improve their stand on social values for all Canadians, improving things for the poor and middle class etc.

Stay away from elitist things like ie don't put your kids into private schools (people who do want to be elitist, under guise of getting something better for their kids). Public schools are good enough. If they are not, its the parents fault, ie. the voter's fault.

Meh, he was fucked regardless - that is to say, he was on his way out after a "disappointing" performance. There was going to be a leadership review, and the odds weren't great that he'd survive the ordeal and even if he did that sort of thing leaves a sort of stench that's hard to get rid of.

I predicted prior to the election that there would be a minority government of either stripe, NDP likely to be king maker. After the results came out, I'm standing by my latest prediction that there will be three new party leaders by the next election - Jag seems like a nice enough guy, but sorry you're out; and as for Trudeau, well, he's a gaffe machine and his welcome has worn increasingly thin amongst the party apparatchiks. Apparently Trudeau was already "on the block" with party insiders prior to the election, so a disappointing result like a fall to a minority will see him end up getting canned sooner or later.
Nice to read a post from someone that has some political insight to share as opposed to the usual vacuous and overtly partisan comments.
