Now that camping season is in full swing, what are some of your favourite spots? Running water, flushable toilets and water (lake, river or ocean) nearby is preferred. Any suggestions??

I am headed to a lovely island near Nanaimo.

It has full modern facilities but is accessible only by boat - it's ocean front but completely quiet with no cars.

Last time I went "camping" it was in 6 feet of snow in Yoho National park in a tent.I did not want to go but I had to as it was part of the school curriculum. No choice at all. When I see people going "glamping" with a 5th wheel or with a camper and they bring all of the niceties of society with them I shake my head especially when assholes haul out a couple of quads and run rough shod over the wilderness like driving through spawning beds etc.Of course there is also that extra special asshole who must be mentioned. The guy that fucks with the campfire and turns it from a campfire into a bonfire that you cant get closer than 20 feet for fear of having your hair singed off.

Right....... no one really wants to give away their favourite little spots !! :) I've even skipped the camper and slept in the car (suv) with the seats folded down.. I've got so many. jacks, to plug in stuff for cooking, or an air matress if I take a tent. Ive hit the road before and took my time up to the interrior. Roughing it in the car, until I got there, and decided I needed a real shower, instead of a lake bath, & checked into a hotel or camp ground. I didn't plan the trip, I just kind of packed a back pack and hit the highway. I was really lucky to find a hotel, becuase of an event out there & it took a while to find a hotel, so I actually used the rec center to shower, unti I found a place. Fun Times. Fun & Funny. !!!

Slept in a tent with no bottom one night on Hamber island off Balcarra with 2 school mates, aided an abetted by my father who drove us out there and agreed to come back and pick us up the next morning. Slept on the ground one night with my father and another former school mate after a small boat ride with an outboard motor, probably at Pitt Lake. Hitchhiked to Newfoundland one summer when the hostels were free and slept on the ground sometimes, builders plastic sheeting worked perfectly for a ground sheet if you made sure the small rocks were cleaned off before laying the sheet down. Slept on Wreak Beach one summer on and off when it was legal. Slept on Long Beach a few times when people were allowed to drive on that beach. My father didn't call it camp, it was "bivouac".
