I watched ep 4 of season 3 of The Handmaid's Tale last night. Every time I watch an ep of this show I marvel at the quality of both the writing and the acting. Last night's ep was especially sublime. I cannot recommend this series enough. And if you read the novel and think you don't need to watch the series, you could not be more wrong. The series really fleshes out the novel and recently has been extending it as well.
And if the quality of the acting and the writing is not enough for you, this series sends a strong message about the dangers of the letting the religious right have their way. As Margaret Atwood said, everything she wrote about in her novel has happened at some point in time in the past. I'm sure plenty of people in Germany thought during the rise of Hitler that he was a nut case that would soon dissappear into obscurity, and we all know how that ended.
