The intent of this post is not to start a war but to get us to think about what we consume in our everyday lives and its impact and how capitalistic industries. Addressing these issues alone is not going to solve all of the world's problems, but can significantly reduce the harm our existence can cause.

What rules have been broken? Feel free to put him on ignore, but we don't ban anyone for a different view point, or else you would have been sent away forever a long time ago Storm Rider.

I try my best, when I have time, to shop at the farmers markets and buy my meat from family farms. Admittedly, I have been buying conventional meat and eggs a lot more than I used to out of convenience. School, family responsibilities, work and sleep... I often wish there was more than 24hrs in a day.

On the topic of animals used in biomedical research, it is a necessary evil.

Why I defend animal research... In my former career I used to work with people who had neurodegererative diseases. Watching people slowly (or sometimes rapidly) deteriorate neurologically is horrific. Animal research is horrific as well, but for the greater good I think it's worth it.

The only inconsistency is that humans show a greater degree of selflessness and altruism to other animals than other species do. Generally speaking, animals don't tend to restrain themselves from eating something it considers food, or from infringing on the territory of a less dominant species, if it has a desire to. Speciesism is rampant in nature. We are the abnormality.

If your going to consume another, once living being.....remember it gave its life for you to consume it.
Don't waste it's protein source if you can help it......
Slaughter plants are not nice places to visit, and it's ok to have your meat introduced into your diet in a nice neat clean package, bought in a grocery store, and have someone else do your killing for you.
It's not a pretty thing to watch, and not for everyone.
We forget that most of us are meat eaters, and we are near the top of the food chain . The animals we consume eat some of the products not fit for human consumption.....making feeding people more efficient, and less wasteful.
You must remember that food is very readily available to us.....it's not that way in some parts of the world.
Those people don't care how ethically produced it is....that is luxury that only some of the world has.
Consider yourself fortunate that you can even consider the topic.
Having said that....people who produce food for the first world consumer, have come a long ways...and perhaps we can go further, but all that comes with costs, and the consumer has voiced that they are willing to pay for a better, and more ethically raised product.

I remember how awful I felt when I came to grips with how cruel and unfair consuming animals is. I don’t remember my seventh birthday, but I’m pretty sure it was right after. Meat is not murder. It’s nature, and so is murder and human exploitation in every way imaginable for that matter. I’m not saying we can’t or shouldn’t do better by the creatures we consume, but I refuse to give the time of day to anyone who’s more concerned about the welfare of a chicken than of an impoverished/exploited human being.

Whole protein contains 20 amino acids required by living animal life including humans. If you're vegan, you're not getting all 20 amino acids and you won't find the 20 by eating a variety of different plant protein sources, even if some people say that you can get a balanced diet by including brewer's yeast in the vegan diet.

I think dogs are better than cats, and I don't like bunnies but I'll feed them if they cuddle me. Are fish a species? They can be pretty cool too.

I refuse to date vegans. I’m serious. Before I go out with a man, I bring up the subject of veganism.

How do you feel about Greenpeace and the actions under taken by them as a whole.Back in the day Greenpeace was formed in a basement room at UBC with the goal of ending H bomb testing off the coast of Alaska. Now Greenpeace is against a lot of things including the development of GMO foods like Golden Rice which is enriched with beta carrotine whichprevents blindness in children in 3rd world countries.

This stance by Greenpeace caused the split by one of it's very founders Patrick Moore who has a degree in Ecology. He was/is all for Golden Rice but the rest of Greenpeace is not.A typical conversation would go like this.

Patrick Moore:Golden Rice prevents blindness in children in 3rd world countries and is a stable food supply.

Greenpeace:It is a Genetically Modified food and an insult to mother earth.

Patrick Moore:I did mention that it prevents blindness in children and yes it is a GMO but it is just enriched with beta carrotine.

Greenpeace:fuck those children in 3rd world countries you want to mutate a child of mother earth.

End of rational conversation.

When it comes down to it you cant have a rational conversation with people when those people are ZEALOTS......and yeah obviously the Greenpeace movement are ZEALOTS.....and at the same time total hypocrites.

I try to stay away from genetically modified foods the best I can, but if the studies show they are beneficial to those in 3rd world countries, I won't protest.

Speaking of genetic modification, what is your opinion on the modification of human DNA?
