I wore out a pair of jeans and need to buy another pair.

Checking the prices, a pair of Levi's on sale is $70!

I thought a pair of jeans on sale was closer to $45?

I bought a Levi shirt today. It was marked down from $+40 to $10. I took it to the cashier. The guy looked at the price tag showing $10, and then scanned it. The price came up on the computer as $0.02. We looked at each other. He shrugged. I paid 2 cents.

Costco is a good place. I buy a lot of stuff there. I recently found a nice sundress at Costco that actually fit me. And for only $20. Dress shopping is usually a nightmare for me. And I buy all my yoga pants there. I prefer them over Lululemon for reasons that extend beyond just a good price. They can handle numerous washings without getting that annoying pilling.

I like Winners too. I’ve been buying my monk fruit sweetener there for a decent price compared to Whole Foods or Choices. It’s a great sugar replacement for baking.

Lol, have a look at some actual designer jeans and you'll think that $70 is a steal

That's been law in British Columbia since 1974. Merchant can only charge lowest price that gets marked on anything.

I have not bought any Levi's jeans since they were produced in Mexico.Used to be a perfect 32/32 fit but when production shifted to Mexico the quality went down the crapper.....voted with my wallet plain and simple.

There used to be three jeans factories in Winnipeg that made almost all the jeans sold in Canada. It is a shame all that manufacturing is gone.
Levis, Lee, GWG, Brittania, Polo, dozens of other private label brands, all from the same place and the same seamstresses.

The last couple of jeans I bought at Costco haven’t been worth shit. Ripped at the back pockets way too quick. Have Levi jeans more than 10 years old that never ripped out like that.

Picked up a pair of Levi's 516 jeans at The Bay for $40 plus taxes on sale. Pretty happy about that. I don't like spending big $$ on a pair of pants that I wash the car in.

No YKK zipper any more though. Cost cutting measure I guess.

Yup.....Levi's.
When it gets too hot in haying season, and I'm lifting 500 to 700 small bales into the trailer without my haying chaps....that is the test of quality.
The large round bales are what I like to spit out in the field, and are lifted by machine, but I do need some small 80 pound bales for feeding out in a hurry throughout the winter...and I don't have a automatic stacking trailer yet.
The Levi jeans seem to hold out the best.

I've ruined many a Carhartt jacket by beating down some flames in grass fires.....my turn-out pants are fireproof, and I've never considered that method.
She looks way better doing it than I do.
I remember there was this female Aussie firefighter...and a small gas fire started from one of our Honda pumps, and she was a quick thinker and ripped off her shirt to smother the flames.
I pointed out to her how fast and direct she acted in that moment....she was a looker, and still holding her shirt over the motor she looked up and smiled at me.....after a few moments of taking a very appreciative look at her, I pointed out she forgot to put on her bra that morning.

There was no restraining order filed against me.

If anyone wanted denim "made in USA", chances are it came from North Carolina. Levi's used to have 501's "Made in USA" and chances are the the fabric came from Cone Mills. The plant was shut down in January of this year and all the remaining selvedge denim was sold to their current customers.

I got a couple of pairs when the maker let me know once their stock was sold, there would be no more USA denim. I've got one pair that is > 5 years old and they still look great.

Now if you want to own great quality denim, you need to source it from Japan. The Japanese bought the technology and have been supplying makers world wide. This is the high quality denim found on the jeans costs way upwards of US$200

Most denim now is sourced from Mexico, China and Vietnam etc. Since enduser cost is so important to many people, the quality of the denim reflect that in the price. You get what you pay for in other words.
