Currently reading "Change your brain, change your life" by Daniel Amen. Fascinating book written by a practising pyschiatrist, who uses brain scans for one of his diagnostic tools. From his experience, problematic behaviour (e.g. ADD, lack of control, OCD, antisocial, etc) is not the problem but the *symptom* of the underlying problem: brain injury.

The book outlines how brain injury to different parts of the brain can affect behaviour and how he treats it using medication, nutrition and lifestyle.

WARNING: not a substitute for medical advice. Consult a trained professional, etc etc

Without Conscience: The Disturbing World of the Psychopaths Among Us

Author: Robert D. Hare. PhD.
I read this recently. It's a great book. :thumb::thumb: The information is quite valuable. Especially considering how this lifestyle/industry attracts predators and con artists. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how these shady characters operate so you'll be better able to recognize certain malevolent and manipulative behaviour patterns and protect yourself.

From Where I Stand. Jody Wilson-Raybould.

Drawn from 10 years of speeches JW-R presented to mostly (so far) indigenous organizations . . . but then I'm only 30 pages into the book

Stanley by Tim Jeal. If you like historical biographies, it's hard to beat this one. It's the story of how a damaged Victorian pauper (who fought on both sides of the Civil War) explored Africa and famously 'discovered' Livingstone.

"On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous" by Ocean Vuong, Penguin Press, June 2019. This debut novel is written in the form of a letter from a Vietnamese American son to his illiterate mother.

"The Politically Incorrect Guide to Climate Change" by Marc Morano. Holy crap, what an eye-opener!! Try this: 'Snows are less frequent and less deep. They do not often lie, below the mountains, more than one, two or three days, and very rarely a week. They are remembered to have been formerly frequent, deep and of long continuance. The elderly inform me the earth used to be covered with snow about three months in every year. The rivers, which then seldom failed to freeze over in the course of the winter, scarcely ever do now. This change has produced an unfortunate fluctuation between heat and cold in the spring of the year which is very fatal to fruits." Al Gore? Leo DiCaprio? Nope. Thomas Jefferson in 1799. Let the flaming begin....

The Bible.

Whole lotta Begats.

People are persecuted and die for their beliefs.

Hard to follow most of the time—lacks cohesive plot.

Some good epic parables and pinnacle insights.

A bit dogmatic at times.

Overall, I give it two stars. Has shown longevity.

I hear there is is a sequel. Think I will wait for the threequel.

Talking to Crazy: How to Deal with the Irrational and Impossible People in Your Life.

Should be mandatory reading for anyone who deals with idiot bosses, unreasonable employees, angry women or predatory males.

I'm mostly a fiction lover. Presently reading The Forgotten Girls, by a Vancouver author named Owen Laukkanen. It is dedicated to the memory of the missing and murdered women of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
