Another one of Donald Trump's cronies - Roger Stone, was arrested Friday, live on CNN.

Anyone else wondering why they needed a troup of armour-clad police with high-powered automatic weapons and grenades on their belts to take in a 76-yeal old guy accused of lying?

He was there with his wife, and nobody else, but it looked like they were entering a compound holding Pablo Escobar, and a gang of mobsters.

I was always very anti-Trump, but I'm starting to think maybe he has a point about the deep state. All of the arrests have been for unrelated things to the Russia collusion investigation - but most related to the questioning around it, and bankrupting anyone who might try to fight the charges. The weight of the state is imposssible to fight if they want to find something - anything on you.

Also, similar accusations made against Democrat politicians, or ones alligned with them, seem to be ignored. I mean - is there anyone that has appeared before congress who hasn't lied?

He made a lot of violent threats against people, he threatened to kill people's pets, and in the USA it has to be assumed everyone has guns.
Police are killed on what look like safe calls.
The overwhelming force ensures a quick resolution.
You say only him and his wife were there but the cops don't know that. They only know they are going into a dangerous situation against a guy who has made many violent threats and is probably armed. Ever go into a pawn shop in Florida? Guns guns guns.

Anyone who threatens to kill someone's dog if they testify, fuck him too bad the FBI didn’t shoot him.

The FBI doing a take-down is totally different from a local police force arresting someone. They analyze all potential threats to themselves ahead of time and act accordingly. And they do have access to all potential possibilities.

Too intense if you ask me, looked like they were raiding an organized crime house or home of an armed terrorist.

I have to agree that is risk management for the job at hand.

Maybe the fact they haven't been paid in a month might bring
a little more attitude than usual.

No harm no foul in my eyes.

Unrelated to the Russian Collusion investigations?

Not exactly collusion related plea bargains or sentences but it's for certain now FBI are getting close with disclosure of #45's business dealings for a property in Moscow before and during the election. The list below (Rollingstone Jan 24, 2019) has many of his inner circle pleading guilty and/or cooperating with the FBI. The majority of these are specifically about the Trump campaign's contacting Russian business, Putin's inner circle and their diplomatic core.

October 5th, 2017
Trump foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his communications with Kremlin-linked professor Joseph Mifsud, who told him the Russians had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton. Papadopoulos served 12 days in prison for the charge this past fall.

October 30th, 2017
Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and aide Rick Gates were indicted on 12 counts for a series of alleged crimes related to their lobbying for a pro-Russia government in Ukraine. Charges included acting as unregistered agents of the Ukraine, laundering millions of dollars through offshore accounts and conspiracy against the United States. Gates later pleaded guilty and testified against Manafort, his former mentor. In August, after a trial, Manafort was found guilty of fraud charges unrelated to the campaign and later pleaded guilty to conspiracy against the United States and conspiracy to obstruct justice, entering a cooperation agreement with the special counsel. But in November Mueller’s office accused Manafort of violating the deal by lying repeatedly. Manafort’s tentative sentencing date is March 5th.

December 1st, 2017
National Security Adviser Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contact with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Flynn’s plea began his “substantial” cooperation with the special counselor’s office, which recommended in December 2018 that he serve little to no jail time (the federal judge in charge of sentencing seemed unpersuaded). Flynn’s sentencing was delayed in December and may not take place until the fall.

February 12th, 2018
Twenty-eight-year-old California computer enthusiast Richard Pinedo pleaded guilty to identity fraud in connection with the Russian election interference. Pinedo had for years illegally created bank accounts using stolen identities and sold them to buyers, including to Russians who used stolen identities on social media to disrupt the 2016 U.S. election. Pinedo was sentenced to six months in prison.

February 16th, 2018
Thirteen Russian nationals and three businesses, including the Kremlin-backed Internet Research Agency, were charged with conspiracy to defraud the U.S. They were accused of stealing U.S. citizen’s identities, sowing discord via fake posts on social media and seeking to subvert the 2016 election to benefit the Trump campaign.

February 16th, 2018
Lawyer Alex van der Zwaan, a Dutch national, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contact with Trump campaign associate Rick Gates as well as about his work for the Ukrainian government. He served a 30-day prison sentence last May.

May 22nd, 2018
Gene “Taxi King” Freidman, who owned a fleet of New York City taxicabs in partnership with Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, reached a plea deal for criminal tax fraud with the New York attorney general’s office and reportedly agreed to cooperate in government prosecutions against Cohen.

June 8th, 2018
Longtime Manafort business partner Konstantin Kilimnik, who has alleged ties to Russian intelligence, was charged, along with Manafort, for conspiracy and obstruction of justice after allegedly trying to persuade witnesses to lie in testimony. Kilimnik is reportedly based in Russia and not expected to turn up in a U.S. court any time soon.

July 13th, 2018
Twelve Russian intelligence officers were charged with computer crimes and identity theft for the hacking of the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign emails. The indictment details an alleged plan by the Russian government to cause chaos and sabotage the Clinton campaign in the months leading up to the election.

August 21st, 2018
Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to tax fraud, bank fraud and campaign finance violations, and asserted the illegal payments made to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal — to silence them on their alleged affairs with Trump — were directed by Trump himself, implicating the president in a federal crime.

August 31st, 2018
Charged by the U.S. Attorney’s office in D.C., lawyer W. Samuel Patten pleaded guilty to acting as an unregistered foreign agent while working for a Ukrainian politician and agreed to cooperate with the special counsel. He also admitted to illegally funneling Ukrainian money into Trump’s inaugural committee.

November 29th, 2018
Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to Congress about the Trump organization’s pursuit of a Trump Tower in Moscow during the 2016 campaign. (BuzzFeed reported Cohen lied at the explicit request of Trump but the special counsel’s office has strongly refuted that reporting.) In December, Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison for campaign finance violations, tax evasion and lying to Congress.

January 25th, 2019
Former Trump adviser Roger Stone was indicted over his dealings with WikiLeaks, which published the trove of Democratic emails stolen by the Russians during the election. Stone was charged with seven counts, including witness tampering, making false statements and obstruction of an official proceeding.

This raid is being retold and reinvented by Trump and his idiot fans.
Instead of a slimy piece of shit who made threats against potential witnesses getting arrested, it is now a poor old man being harassed by the Gestapo.

CNN reporters were staking out the house because many believed he would be arrested early Friday. Lots of tweets from political analysts to that effect after Thursday Grand Jury hearing. There were probably stakeouts by various organisations at several residences. Trump fans (who love to see themselves as victims of mainstream media) insist instead that CNN was tipped off.
CNN footage show and reporters say about a dozen agents involved. Trump fans were saying 16 in four SUV's, then 24, then 29.
The original video doesn't look like a mob. More agents would come later for thorough search but original team of 12 is plausible.
Stone cries about being broke and gets pity from MAGA nuts. He owns mansion in Florida and condo in NYC, hmmm.

Unrelated to the Russian Collusion investigations?
Trump likes whining about how much the Mueller investigation is costing taxpayers.
It is actually seizing so many assets it is making money.
He likes saying it is getting no results, but look at all you posted.
I am sure there are more you left out, eg the Russian gun lobbyist who channeled Russian money through the NRA to Trump.

An impressive list. The one missing element? There isn't a single charge that relates to Colluding with Russia in the 2016 election, except for Pinedo, who had nothing to do with Trump or the campaign. The charges against the 12 Russian agents mention nothing about the Trump campaign, and the charges are pointless, because they will never enter the US. They might as well charge Putin, or a Christmas tree for what it will achieve. Most relate to things people did well before the election, or involve taxes or lying in testimony.
And does anyone really believe looking for dirt on politcal foes is a crime? Who commissioned the Steele report? Entire staffs are dedicated to finding dirt on candidates in every election from school boards on up.

This reads like All the Presidents Men.

Papadopoulos, Manafort, Gates, Flynn, Kilimnik (alleged Russian Intelligence officer) etc etc. All connected with the campaign, all connected with Russia and also got the Republican Party to change its support of Ukraine to a more Russian positive view of Ukraine.

Let's revisit this list as the rest of the indictments are handed down. You have to admit with all the campaign personnel working directly with the Russians that it's only a matter of time that all the dots get connected.

Sure there are dirty tricks pulled by both sides, albeit the Republicans are usually the ones caught red handed.

The Democrats had a high level of certainty that #45 was dirty, hence getting a knowledgable former MI-6 operative to write the report. They certainly weren't going to go to the FBI or CIA before they had any quality information.

I stand by my earlier statement - there hasn't been one thing linking Trump to collusion with Russia during the 2016 election. One caveat - so far. Yet, the hysterical media keeps screaming collusion, like it's certain. Remember the famous "pee tape"? The media was certain it existed, too and pretty much ran with it as fact. Do you think some scum ball Russian mobster or a desperate sex worker wouldn't have made a lot of money selling it, if it existed?

Doing business with Russian companies wasn't, and isn't illegal, nor does it indicate any involvement with the Russian government. The Clintons, over the years had far more dealings with Russia than Trump. Most of the guys on that list did business in Russia years before any thought of Trump running for office.

The Mueller mandate was supposed to be about finding collusion, but so far his scope has crept into money laundering, lying and tax evasion. H's basically looking for any crime he can use to lever statements, but do we know if convicted liars are making true statements? Is there any reason to believe any testimony from Michael Cohen?

I was once told, "a surgeon will always recommend surgery, because it's what they do." A Special Prosecutor will always find you some crimes, to justify their appointment. Take any 20 politicians in Washington at random - Dem or Rep, and investigate them, interrogate them, threaten friends and associates, and guess how many could be indicted?

I'm also curious what people think happened, if there was "collusion?" Almost all media, talk shows, SNL, opinion pieces, blogs and bulk of advertising were all pro Hillary. Trump was mocked and derided. So apparently a few hundred facebook/Instagram and twitter Russian bot posts countered all of that. TOh, and they got three million more people to vote for Clinton.

When Mueller releases his report (if ever) it will be interesting to see what happens, but there might be a letdown for the MSM, and those expecting the big whammy. If he doesn't find collusion (and I doubt he will) what will the next Cry Wolf be?

Oh well, one of us will be revisiting this thread to say I told you so.

How do you know exactly what marching orders Mueller received when he was told to investigate the firing of Comey? When police do their job, they do not ignore money laundering, tax evasion, the emollients clause, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, being an operative of a foreign government and possibly treason. None are proven of course but the point being the FBI investigate all leads.

Here is Rosenstein's letter to Mueller outlining his mandate. As you can see, Mueller was given a far reaching powers to investigate whatever he uncovered.

Wow...everybody with de minimus intelligence knows this is a witch hunt, and the 'Russian collusion' is a total hoax. Not a fan of Trump, but corrupt deep state democrats are using the FBI as the Federal Bureau of Intimidation. None of the indictments have anything to do with Trump and 'collusion' they are more than arms length away.

The real collusion is with the Russian Uranium One scandal, Clinton foundation conveniently received hundreds of millions of dollars before her vote was ratified. Somehow this isn't fishy at all, and the FBI is conveniently ignoring it.

The real agenda is getting rid of Trump. They need to focus on the ballot box, and not using strongarm tactics.
