I totally agree! I have 426hp and it just dosent feel like its enough ... next vehicle will be in 600hp range.I prefer high horsepower rides...:biggrin1: anything under 400hp kinda puts me to sleep. There was a time when my "fast car" was 750hp and my "slow car" was only 550hp
Current ride is only about 420hp...it's just not enough. Horsepoweritis is a sickness. Once you've had it, it's hard to go back.
12.8:1 is pretty high compression for a cam in block motor, what fuel where you running, c16?I miss my 66 Chevelle SS, 350 with 0.030 oversized 12.8:1. It had allot of work done to it, It ran 10.5 sec quarter mile with 32 x 14 slicks. On the street if you drove it right it was not to bad on gas. I still have the motor, transmission, and rear end but not the car. Some day I will put it all back together.
Let me rephrase that, 12.8:1 is pretty high for pump gas... what fuel are you using, im at 11.8:1 and the car pulls 8-12* of spark timing on Canadian 94 and torco kills my O2’s, I try and fill up at sumas on the way to mission but it’s not always an option but it only pulls .5* and picks up 7-9 mph12.8:1 is not high
I am in process of building a 454 with 13:1 with aluminum D heads with a crankshaft with a stroke of 3.25
It is a lot or work to build this
I have an friend in Detroit who has done the same thing to a 427
His will scream to 10,000 rpms if he wants it to with no problems
He has it in a steal bodied 1968 camero and he runs low 8 sec quarters and that is not it full potential
