as this page 11, Rocketman has probably already been mentioned but I saw it recently and thoroughly enjoyed it.

No sugar-coating, it showed Elton both good and not-so good(at his insistence I read).

Recommend.

On a whim I saw it tonight. I've always liked the Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones dynamic in the first two films. Even when Josh Brolin played the young version of Tommy Lee's character in the third film, it was still a pretty good movie.

This one is a bit of a confused mess. It comes off as a bit of James Bond sctich with Batman's motorcycle. Emma Thompson was good but the script had her mimicking Judi Dench as M in Bond series with Chris Hemsworth playing a supposed top agent with a flair for partying with space creatures.

Wait for it on Netflix or Prime.

Can't wait to see this:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7456310/videoplayer/vi903330841?ref_=vi_nxt_ap

Though having said that, it looks from the trailer above that Luc Besson is revisiting his 1990 movie theme from "La Femme Nikita". Luc seems to love the "beautiful young women kicks ass" theme since he has used it over and over again in his movies. One of his most recent movies employing that theme, "Lucy", started off great but I found the ending very disappointing. I hear a sequesl has been announced, though if I remember correctly, the end of the first movie did not allow for an obvious continuation. Perhaps he will use the "it was all a dream" technique to allow for a sequel lol.

Ronnie Coleman: The King

Niche film, certainly not for everyone. But if you know who he is, watch it.
He literally destroyed his own body because he pushed himself too far. Sad seeng him hobbling around on crutches.
The comments by his rivals were fascinating. I always hated Cutler but he wasn't such a bad guy after all.
I watched it not knowing a thing about Ronnie Coleman. Talk about a positive guy when faced with all his physical setbacks. Not sure if I agree with getting all the surgery done and he still keeps deadlifting against Dr recommendations.

I am not a horror movie kinda guy but since Rotten Tomatoes rated it high, I decided to give it a try. Also, the director is Jordan Peele, the same guy who made Get Out, which I loved.

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/us_2019

Turns out it is a horror plus a psychological thriller. Lupita Nyong'o is brilliant as the lead actress. She is (African) black which means her skin is much darker than African American black and she is beautiful. If I remember correctly, she is born to Kenyan parents.

Unfortunately, I had to watch it in two parts so somewhere I lost track of a few things and the end was not as clear to me as it should've been. But it is very twisted, very graphic and very creepy. Honestly it stayed with me for at least a day.

Recommended: Absolutely, esp if you are into horror and psychological thrillers. Rating 3.5/5.

10 x 10

This movie came out last year and someone had recommended it to me back then. Finally I found it and watched it.
10 x 10 is the size of the room where the character of lead lady Kelly Reilly is held hostage by the character played by Luke Evans. I don’t think i have ever seen them before. Very good performance by both keeps the movie interesting. Lots of violence, one brief shot of a pair of b size boobs (no not Kelly Reilly’s), rough language and suspense as well. 3 out of 5 for me.

Recommended: Yes.

The acting was pretty good, but it was probably one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen.

Yesterday

an interesting film paying tribute to The Beatles.
such creative storytelling from director Danny Boyle–
imagine that…a world where songs by The Beatles have never existed.

lead actor Himesh Patel was great.
cinematography was superb and the soundtrack is killer!
good dose of understated and subtle comedy throughout that the Brits do so very well–
not over the top but as the Brits say 'brilliant'.

on that note, I'm finding myself listening to The Beatles lately
and I'm truly amazed at how many memorable songs the Fav 4 have produced.
they just don't craft songs such as Yesterday, The Long and Winding Road,
Hey Jude (to name a few) anymore.

it's a 9 out of 10.

Midsommar

This is a film that is.....different.
Can't really say too much without being a "spoiler" but definitely some unique aspects at play.

The ending can be interpreted in more than one way, and I read that the lead actress and the director had different interpretations of it.

I know that, for me, it was one where I was thinking about it long after it was over.

I highly recommend this one.

Killing Grounds

Caught it on Netflix. I believe it is about two three years old. It is an Australian movie. Without giving too much away, all I can say is that I like the way they ran three stories parallel and then brought everything together about half way. Very well shot, nicely acted and although it kind of turns into the usual climax being stretched formula, overall it is a pretty good thriller. 3 out of 5 for me.

Gerald's Game

I might have reviewed it before but I watched it again. If you are a Stephen King fan you will like this psychological thriller. The star of the movie is Carla Gugino and she nailed it!! Nice tense situation. But it is not just about the situation that is present int he movie, it is more about the past.

If you have not seen Carla Gugino before, I recommend you see this movie. Honestly, one of the reasons I watched this movie was her. Sight of her arms tied to bed posts, while she is in a sexy slip is priceless. I think she is Angelina Jolie kind of beautiful.

3 out of 5.

It (2017) - Part One

Despite some great reviews, I have been postponing this movie ever since it came out simply because horror is just not my thing. Ever since I heard part 2 is coming, I became interested again and finally I caught it on Netflicks yesterday. I have to say I was pretty impressed. Overall, I loved the underlying message of the movie. Also some very good acting by 'Losers". Especially I was very impressed by Sophia Lillis. She plays the only girl in the group. I hope she get some good parts later in her carrier.

I have not read the original book simply because horror is just not my thing. In fact, I have never read Stephen King at all but I have watched a few movies based on his writing. Shining, Misery, then there were these short movies, The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption to name a few. After watching the movie I read about the book and learned it is over 1100 pages. Also, which came as a shock was that apparently there is this graphic orgy between the group! It kind of gave me a mixed feelings of disgust and shock. Have you ever read the book and then watched the movie?

Overall, I enjoyed the film despite it seemed a bit long at times. I can imagine why it is long. After all they are trying to catch 1100+ pages into a movie.

Recommended, yes. 3.5 out of 5.

Now I am looking forward to the part two. I am a big fan of Jessica Chastain. She has this sexiness to her that is hard to describe. I bet she will play Beverly (Sophia Lillis's character) very well.

I watched this movie a few months back. I did not find the explanation at the end of the movie made that much sense. Otherwise, it was entertaining.

The explanation is not at the end. It becomes evident somewhere in the middle. (Spoiler Alert): the clown represents inner fear of people and how the fears, guilt and inhibitions is taking the childhood away from kids. That is why they 'float' and can't make any progress. That's why all these kids see the clown whenever they face a situation that brings out their fears. That's why they all get together and kill 'it'. Or so they think. Hence part 2. :)

I think you did not look at the comment I replied to. I do not remember a clown in "US".

I’m surprised no one has brought up “Once upon a time in Hollywood”.

Like Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction it has numerous story lines all colliding with one another. The 60’s soundtrack was mainly AM type songs by Paul Revere and the Raiders etc. Probably won’t down load that one. Still the movie does bring back childhood references for me.

Brad Pitt was funny and DiCaprio played a 50’s cowboy movie guy on the downside of his career.

:thumb: I’ve seen it 2x now.

Lots of YouTube content by obvious fans who noticed every small detail and its links with other Tarantino films.
