The wasteland that is ... BP.

I remember only a few years ago where I used to love surfing through Backpage and the ladies therein. I found several regulars there, along with some amazing specialty girls who I have only seen a rare time or two. All in all, there was much to be offered, and joy to be found.

Now? It's literally a wasteland of fake pictures, bad service, and nightmarish bait-and-switch. Yes, there are a handful of legit posters, even some amazing girls to still be found... but the sheer spadework needed to dig them out is no longer worth it.

I now understand why some of my fellow perbites request a recent sms/photo be sent before meeting. Dear gods. I also now understand the (mostly) fake outrage at a lady having to do so. The legit providers usually have either a website, or a private member's section on a website with lots of photos. The BP gurl squads? Nah. They just get mad and say "don't ask!"

which, imho (and i'm fine if i'm wrong) basically means "this post is bullshit, we will happily take your money then run you out of the room".

I never thought I would miss the old craigslist. Leolist is heading down a disturbing path as well, but the honestly there seems a bit more ... legit. Am I right? Is it still relatively trustworthy as long as we do our homework? Inquiring minds!

Cheers

Can't stand BP! I can't even think of a time where I contacted an SP from there let alone had a great experience. LL is ok, but yeah, either the gems aren't as prevalent or it is being inundated with randoms.

I get very angry when the entire sex industry gets conflated with trafficking... human trafficking happens in many industries. In Canada, human trafficking in agriculture and domestic work (nannies, housekeepers) is a big issue, but nobody's calling for an end to strawberry picking or home care. Internationally, enslaved and impoverished children harvest, fish, make our clothes, etc. So the issue of trafficking and exploitation of minors is much, much bigger than the sex industry.

That said....

My friend says she's boycotting BP because she can't support a website that won't do its due diligence to ensure that underage and trafficked women are not being advertised on it's site. I'd be curious to hear other people's take on this? BP claims that they'll report any posters suspected to be exploiting minors, but do they really? I've also heard the argument from posters here on PERB that BP is a great resource for LE to find traffickers and their victims. What do you think?

Sorry to derail the thread.

More on topic.... do you want to know why we post on BP? Because that's where the customers are. Still.

I prefer PERB because of the human interaction--I'd rather meet someone I connected with on a human level, rather than someone who just liked a picture of my ass. So, I rarely advertise on BP. And yet, it's crazy how many messages I get from the rare ads I do post on BP. I remember arriving in a city once where I had no bookings, and nobody knew who I was. I posted on BP and within twenty minutes my roster was full for the whole weekend.

BP gives me a shady first impression, not including the problems it has had in the US with underage trafficking in particular. I am not saying every SP on BP is bad, there are the legit ones, but they get lost in all the fake ads.

I totally agree with Pretty Priya. If I don't advertise on BP I wont get called. Everyone and I mean everyone looks there. I've probably had three exes call my work number and they never had my number or any number to contact me.

Everyone looks there, that's why this time around I choose not to show my face. I am starting to think that the ones that do show their face maybe be the fakes??!! (not all but most)

Maybe. Maybe not. I have a few girlfriends who show their faces on BP, and they are well-reviewed, established ladies. Can't speak for everyone posting, though.

When I was in Colombia, I wanted to hire a lady for my personal pleasure, and I was completely overwhelmed by Backpage Bogota. I ended up calling a well-known agency and asking for a recommendation because I wasn't even sure which ads were real, and which were not. (PM me if you want recommendations for a cutie pie in Bogota).

So now I understand how the men feel.

PS. I laughed when, in the documentary trailer, someone calls BP the "Wal-Mart" of the sex industry. It's an apt description, and like Wal-Mart, it may have shady suppliers and unethical business practices, but their model works and EVERYONE shops at Wal-Mart. Including the well-heeled and the erotic epicures.

It is not really true that there is no sex trafficking in Canada,

I listened to couple of documentaries, Canadian girls being shipped from one end of this country to the next, and young and naïve, being forced to have sex at a pad all day long.

I watched the documentary, um, yeah back page is presented as an evil place full of under age trafficked girls.

one comment from a judge, saying there not all under age or it is not always sex, was just ridiculed and dismissed.
I think people on a mission or have a agenda don't necessary see the truth.

I mean from both sides pro and con, on this issue, people have a hard time honestly grasping the issues.

Agree 100% with your friend. BP just screams bad news in every which way.

Even when the Sp is legit, there always seems to be a problem. About a month ago, on a whim I went on it and came across a Latin SP who had an incredible body. A quick search on here had me find out that about 80% of her pics were hers and she did in fact have a great body. So even a SP with who doesn't need a bait and switch pic, still uses it.

Whether it's reviews or looking of a date, I still believe Perb is the way to go.
