    Round Table on Bill C-36

    hi everyone,

some of us have been invited to a round table with the federal government on the impacts of the new prostitution laws in canada....

we have been given a separate meeting from the feminazi's so are looking forward to a productive discussion, at least better than during the parliamentary and senate justice committee hearings....

i am part of a national body who are going to give evidence and perspective in a unified way in consultations across canada... i understand that "Johns Voice"/ Sex, Safety and Security - will be there too....i am also hoping the vpd will highlight their enforcement policy and it's positive effects in terms of trust building and better allocation of resources....

that said, i would like to open up the opportunity for anyone here to take part....in person, via email or via posts here....

do you have perspective on this? positive or negative? do you want to be included in any changes moving forward?

i can take people's input an present it on your behalf or people can come with me to the meeting....

i am happy to answer any questions as best i can and hope that people will take part....

let's cross our fingers that this time we get the result we deserve and finally see decrim in canada!!!

i should also say that the federal committee on health are studying the "health impacts of pornography" on canadians as per Motion M-47 - my brief which highlighted "inappropriate exclusion" of sex workers and bad data being named and excluded or given no weight - was refused, not accepted.....

i am still working on inclusion and the co-chair of the committee happens to be my mp - don davies - so am engaged there as well...

this motion is the brain child of the usual suspects - joy smith et al - and i think aims to further undermine the safety and ability of sex workers to find employment in various areas of the sex industry - they want to abolish it all...not just prostitution...

anyway, please let me know by message here or at [email protected] if you are interested in taking part or have a submission for me to take

    love susie

Just to add to Susie's post.

We have been invited to attend the round table session being held by the Department of Justice Canada. We will be providing a summary of the findings from the research that we conducted before, during and after the passing of Bill C36, including a breakdown of our findings to date for our current study of the ways sex workers and clients communicate - "Street-to-Screen". The information/evidence we will be presenting will be specific to how the laws have been interpreted/understood by people who pay for and provide sexual services in Canada, what impact the laws have had (before and after C36) on individual attitudes and behaviours and how the different socio-legal contexts across Canada have impacted the nature of health and safety relations between people who pay for and provide sexual services. We will also be providing a detailed analysis of how advertising of sexual services and communications between people who pay for and provide sexual services has changed since the implementation of the new laws with respect to advertisement and client-side communication. As always, the information we provide in these consultations will be IN NO WAY compromise the privacy, confidentiality and security of ANY person that has participated in any of the projects we have done over the past 15 years.

This article has been presented in the past, but it is worth examining again. Linking child abuse to pornography and prostitution is a red herring. Yes the internet has changed society's views on pornography. It has had a similar effect as the printing press had on pronography and sexuality hundreds of years ago. It has made it available to a greater audience.
If the current laws around prostitution are liberalized and decriminalized, the world will not end nor will child abuse increase. The government has no business in the bedroom. It does have a responsibility to regulate commerce and ensure all pay their fair share of taxes.

Then instead of a video of the "session", how about a podcast or at least "minutes" of the meeting?

Surely Susi has the resources & chutzpah to sneak in recording devices.

Unfortunately, I have no faith whatsoever in this kind of government process as the loudest screamers, in this case the "femnazis" as you call them, always seem to take over the agenda. But thanks for participating and representing the sane view Suzi. Good luck!

I just came across these articles and the attempts by the British Parliament to limit access to internet pornography. It really does seem that Big Brother is really trying to control the way the general public looks at and engages in sex and sexual acts. The idea that you can prevent those under 18 from accessing internet sexual information, viewing internet based sexual acts, or even participating in sexual acts is ludricous. If a minority has aproblem with internet access then the real solution is educating those who access the internet and providing proper parental supervision and rules for their offspring. Responsibility begins at home. Taking responsibility helps ensure our personal freedoms.

    End of rant...

Reminds me of what they used to do to gays. Funny how now most of society now realizes how wrong they were for bashing these people for simply having sex with one another.

I hope this isn't happening in BC or elsewhere in Canada. I know it does in the States.

there is a federal committee on the "health impacts of porn" ....ugh.....but hopefully we can ensure our side is represented and maybe we'll see some movement forward....i am trying to be optimistic....the minister of justice is a sane person so i have some hope in that...

i am sure people will take minutes of the meeting...recording...i am not sure but i will at least pull together some minutes so people get the jist of the conversation...remember though, our meeting is separate from the feminazi's so it will likely be alot of preaching to the converted rather than conflict...

Porn is extremely healthy, does wonders for the soul, reduces the incidences of rapes in societies worldwide in every nation, teaches virgins how to have sex, what holes to use...please pass this message to the federal government for me, Suzi, & Mr. Trudeau in person. Tell him it's from Lenny on PERB & he hopes the PM will join the forum.

I've heard that if you're Catholic, and you're getting married - the pre-marriage council that focuses on "intimacy" is taught by a father or a nun..

there are a few jokes there but I won't go there.

I'd say too much porn too fast for kids that are too young can be damaging - just like food, video games, alcohol, drugs, even sports! Anything in excess is ill-advised.

The issue lies with the prevalence and the proclivity of watching pornography amongst youth.. I think if you're under 15 there should be some sort of crazy ban from your cellphone data and wifi.. Call me old fashioned..
