    The NDP LEAP manifesto

Given the upcoming election in BC I thought I would put up this thread on the NDP's LEAP "manifesto" which is in itself a "LEAP" into energy poverty for Canadians.

    http://https://youtu.be/-VIE2VumpQQ

Oh but we have "save the Earth"https://youtu.be/7W33HRc1A6c

When it comes right down to it one of the founding members of Greenpeace has come outright and said that Climate Change is a SHAM.

Voting for the NDP and their LEAP manifesto is just plain asking to be screwed over whilst the elites go along and say "do as I say not as I do" as they drive the government SUV's paid for via the taxpayer money because they are smarter and better than the voters that elect them.

    Just a rant.

    I can see that.

He's a dinosaur watching the fossil fuel industry he supports dying, and he's frightened.

And he should be. The world evolves, and those that don't adapt, get left behind.

Whole system is corrupt beyond repair.
If you think voting NDP or Conservative or Liberal or any other party will do any better you are mistaken.
They have all bern bought. If they haven't then once they get some power the will get bought or coerced.

Its just a corrupt greed fest. ....if you want to blame someone then blame the sociopathic rich 1%. They are the ones manipulating everything jyst so they can keep the peasants divided.

    lol

your link, pretty much shows the bullshit

it's about the GOVERNMENT forcing it's agenda on the people, not the market nor the desires of consumers

read David Booth's articles on the subject, the "Electric" car
demand/sales are inconsequential, the gas/diesel market is hardly dying

the only way it will, is by the communist type of action in your link, or the socialist way here, subsidizing the hell out of it

it's the same with the bullshit of self-driving cars, it's all hype, look at the facts, they don't work well, again, read Booth's one about how many miles they were driven without a human having to take the wheel during testing
not to mention snow/ice covering the markings on the road they use

we don't have the tech to allow 7 billion to live like fat Americans, if/when we get there, we'll be still short cause we'll probably have 10 billion

we can't meet any of the ridiculous pollution targets set, yet we're going to bring in 1/2 million/yr if Zoolander gets his way
and none of them will want a car, phone, tv, furnace, stove, light bulbs, hot water, ect.........

or god forbid, a job!! lol
    no emissions there

cause that works real well for India, China, all the top high CO2 emitters, right?

    more people=better

    right?

How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

Are you seriously saying a brand new technology like self driving cars "don't work well". It's a year old tech in it's infancy. Ten years ago most people were on 56k modems look at where we are now. Do you honestly think electric/self driving cars won't be the norm ten years from now.

I don't need much convincing to switch to electric thanks to all the gas savings and cleaner output. My next car will be a tesla and I will not miss having to fill the tank for $100 every three days.

Also not sure how China and India trying to lower their emissions is a "bad thing".

Far be it from me an Albertian to weigh in here. But I kinda like self driving cars, if they can be made to work. It will drive governments crazy: no revenue from parking fines, traffic violations, photo radar or red light cameras, they will all go broke. LOL.

Traffic volume will be able to go up quite abit as all cars will start to roll when the lights change all at the same time. May not even need traffic lights as the cars should be able to weave seamlessly through an intersection with out stopping. This means huge volume increases without changing the infrastructure of the existing roadway system. They should be able to move faster, in fact speed limits will not be needed. They should know where every car, bike and pedestrian is near a roadway and be able to adjust on the fly. Stopping points, pickup and drop off, and parking can be electronically negotiated as soon as the destination is entered. For a nutty frustrating place to drive, like the lower mainland, this will be huge.

This also means huge fuel savings, and the cars knowing ahead of time when they need to fill up with what ever fuel is of choice. (Electric cars only make Eco sense in a hydropower environment) It should eliminate drunk driving as well. A technilogical solution to a societal problem that doesn't result in criminal records.

    Anyway just blathering on....

Soon as I saw that, I knew right away you meant Patrick Moore. That guy is a corrupt sell-out, and has no credibility. He's been trading on his brief past affiliations to earn easy money from resource industries and their lobby groups - nothing but a PR merc for more than a generation now.

But I suppose for greedy chumps who are looking for any crutch to defend their policy of self-destruction, he's your go to guy.

Never voted NDP - but still not voting for Christy Clark and the oil & gas mafia who control her.

There are too many people on the planet right now.
The earth can not sustain or support them.
Famine is widespread in Africa, NO amount of aid is going to help. There is less and less arable land due to overfarming and overpopulation.
Any money sent to Africa is a waste. Canada should not send any aid, it is foolish however well intentioned.

Same is going on right in your own backyard in the Okanagan. It used to be full of orchard and crops, now it is almost desert. Too many people drawing on the aquifer. Bone dry forest equals massive forest fires.
All kinds of agricultural land in the Fraser Valley is being paved over to build subdivisions and strip malls. There used to be lots of little farm plots all along Marine Drive.
Less food is produced locally. It has to be trucked in at an additional energy cost. Even worse if it is brought in from the US, it will be subject to fluctuations in currency.

If you really want to help the world do not have any children.

Oh Western Society will help Africa....yup and it is called a "carbon tax".....tax the citizens in developed countries and throw that money to the lowest rungs on the ladder and all to "save the planet".Funny how Canada has more land mass than the USA and at the same time less than 10% of the population and produces 2% of world green house gas emmissions and at the same time Canada's northern boreal forrest cleans up 50% of the WORLDS greenhouse gasses. Those silly facts are ignored by the current government which has mandated that ALL Canadians should be taxed to heat their homes and rive a vehicle and of course buy anything silly such as food because that carbon tax will be tacked on to the cost of food as well as clothing etc.

Pretty soon it will be coming directly off your paycheck....carbon tax......gotta save the world you know.

I agree with most of what you've said Woody.......with one side note.....the forests are being cut at an alarming rate near the mill towns. To close, to easy money.......the flooding in Cache Creek....nobody addresses the massive deforestation above that arid country, that cannot hold the billions of gallons of water.
I fight forest fires in that area extensively.....the clear cuts you can't see from the highways are freaking massive.
The water runs into the rivers and creeks because it has no place to rest......and I've seen the tree line rise from 1200 feet above rain shadow, to 1350 feet in a decade.
Nobody is saying anything.....send the logging companies out further, and leave mature strips of healthy timber.
They are nothing but Fucking takers.
Have ONE child, and raise them to make a difference, and not be some parasite on the face of the earth.
Farm land is vanishing at an alarming rate.......when paved over, it is gone forever....but don't get me started!

Too late! Somebody already did! Your perspective is always interesting.

The matter of the size of the human population is a huge issue. Another factor is that, as "work" becomes more and more automated, we have less and less need for human workers. What will everyone do? Ride around aimlessly and passively in their self-driving cars?

I'm about half dead, and yes, it's not perfected yet, maybe it will one day, maybe Microsoft will put out a operating system that isn't flawed from the start, maybe I'll get laid for free soon! who knows

yes, only 10yrs more, just like we'd have flying cars by now, and a robot in every house wiping your ass for you

a washing machine and dryer in your SUV, remember that one, cause it was really needed, ect........

the point is, it's not needed, nor is it going to make things better, just like the stupidity of ruining this planet, so lets move to Mars and fuck it up, we should get on that now according to Hawking, he said we only got, maybe 1000yrs left

you'll still have emissions, you're just shifting the source, in general, natural gas, for the juice
just like with the electricity market, the demand isn't going down with more people, any supposed savings with the closing, er supposed closing of coal, will come back
you've already seen that in BC, the carbon tax reduced demand for gas, it's already back past what it was before the drop, despite your gouge level of $1.40

plus we already have a version, there called buses, lrt, trains, for those who can't drive

so what's the point of driverless cars? lazy morons, incompetence, getting asians from taking the wheel, lol? that was a jk btw, well sorta,

the bullshit of supposed perfect flowing traffic, the fantasy? like all you greens in the lower mainland, with the 2nd worst traffic in Canada? that will solve it, er when you all abandon your bikes, the real green alternative

and yes, electric cars, again, bullshit hype, they can't be run clean, cause you need to produce the electricity to charge them, batteries, and you won't be able to that with solar or wind or hydro, in the amount to replace the millions that run on carbon based fuels, not to mention they've been around since the early inventions of cars, they lost out to gas then for a reason, they still can't get more than a couple hundred km, even less in cold weather

unless you live in the city, never leave it, only go back and forth to work, in a warm climate, again, fiction, for a large part of the world
which would be better served with public transit, which is terrible in Canada

and, China, India, have already said they won't ruin their developing economy, to stop producing emissions, till they're just like the 1st world, until they are as rich as us decadent westerners
Both are building coal plants at rates far out stripping any good they do, cause they need way more electricity than wind/hydro/solar can produce yet, cause they have too many people

you can't have a expanding economy and a reduction in emissions, look at Canada, we'll never reach our targets, they're complete bullshit, so were all the targets even before Kyoto

so, basic exponential math takes over
which brings in diminishing returns, which no one wants to talk about, at a certain point, more isn't better

    more people=more emissions
more people doesn't make things better, it's just compounds the problems

you need to reduce demand, which no one is willing to do, as the facts have pointed out, time and time again, since the first cry of doom in the 80's, 90's

people are insatiable, human nature, give them something, they don't want to give it up

and there are 3+billion looking over the fence, that want your shit too

unfortunately the planet can't handle that much garbage

read Lorrie Goldstein's constant rants on the subject of Canada's emissions, the math doesn't add up, to being possible to meet reductions, let alone keeping emissions at their present levels

Currently Canada produces 2% of the worlds "green house gas emissions" and of that 2% the oilsands contribute 1% of Canada's "green house gas emission" output.Read the numbers and do the math.

Climate change is a sham and one of the founders of Greenpeace has come out and said so.Patrick Moore founded Greenpeace with the original intent of stopping H-bomb testing off the coast of Alaska.....from back then to a few years ago he split way from Greenpeace as Greenpeace changed drastically and went from a group with good intentions to a corporate charity that are in fact eco terrorists.

So no comments or rebuttals anyone?Sorry for posting and linking factual information.I guess as is typical the "save the planet" crowd dont like and cant argue or contest actual facts etc. They have to rely on what they are spoon fed by the socialist media such as the CBC.
