The beautiful Fraser Valley !
Well the Stanley Cup Playoffs started Yesterday . And I'm surprised, this Thread isn't up already ?

Who knows their Hockey, and wants to be the PERB Hockey prognosticator extraordinaire ? LOL

I'm picking the Penguins !

I think They've still got the Horses, to be the 1st repeat Cup Winners, since the 97-98 Red Wings !

Good luck with your Predictions !

Cheers

Cmon guys. It's too easy to pick just the finalists.

If we're truly going to humiliate ourselves, then you have to pick winners for each round ( especially now that NHL has brackets ).

First round ( Ducks, Sharks, Preds, Blues, Habs, bruins , Caps, Penguins)
Second round (Sharks, Preds, Habs, Caps)
Third round (Preds, Caps)
Final ( Caps)

1 point per pick = 15 possible points

May the best man ....hey wait a minute ...I challenge Peyton to beat all the other guys .

Cmon guys , we can't let a girl win the first Perb Prognosticator award, can we?
Ohhh I think we should expect whoever has the depth & breadth of knowledge about the sport, the stats, the coaching styles, etc., to win, regardless of gender or genitalia, Lance. In other words, I'm going with Peyton's picks.

Too easy Erica. Let's see some of your own.

Get your lovely skin in the game.
OK, point taken, but honestly, I really didn't follow much of the season this year. I went to ONE game: got to see the Conor McDavid show from the 6th row behind the sin bin. It was impressive, to say the least. While I was in Red Deer, I caught a few Flames games on tv, and I think they could be poised to make things interesting too. Historically, they're the Canadian team I follow once the 'Nucks flame out (SWIDT?) What about those HABS, though? For me, it's exciting just to see that FOUR teams based in Canada are in the playoffs this year!

However: I'll stand by what I said before. I've been known to be a betting woman (Back in the day I could talk bloodlines, hot barns & bullet works like my buddy Miss Alexander talks line matching & such...) & if I were looking to make bank on the playoffs? I'd take Peyton's picks all day long.

has a Canadian team won a game yet,
I don't think so,

I don't even no why we watched,
part of me thinks its fixed, or there is more pressure to win for some teams then others.

like Calgary for instance, when the flames first came here there was pressure to win, that dam team up north they needed to make a statement,
it seemed like there was an urgency to win.
so we won our cup, then the team just seemed oh why bother lets not get all stressed up about it, they didn't seem to care, if we won or lost f
or years. no need to

this year there is a bid on to get a new arena, so guess what there is an urgency to win, so the powers that be kick in the money for some new digs.

I was at party once, many years ago, and made the statement, the flames will never win another cup ever. somebody thought I was a complete fucking idoit.
there is just no urgency on the ownership group to do it.
I think it will be a cold day in hell before a Canadian team wins the cup, hope I am wrong.

but I have been to the states for several competitions, the Americans have to win, there is so much compete in them its crazy, talk to a Canadian, and what does he say,
well im just happy to be hear,
fuck that,
but that is our typical Canadian attitude were just happy to show up, while the Americans want to kick ass.

the penguins to answer the question,
but I would think the only Canadian teams to have a chance is Montréal or Toronto but its not going to happen

I like your Style Lance ! Just like one of your Pooning Adventures, it can't be that simple ? LOL

But, if We're going with this Format, Everyone has to have their Picks in before Game 4 of Round 1, to be considered Legit ?

Here's Mine:

1st Round: Penguins, Capitals, Senators, Rangers, Oilers, Ducks, Blues, Blackhawks

2nd Round: Penguins, Rangers, Ducks, Blackhawks

3rd Round: Penguins, Blackhawks

Stanley Cup: Penguins

Good luck, to all the Perbsters !

Cheers

P.S. Admit it Lance, Catherine James planned all of your Picks ! LOL

The last canadian team to win the stanley cup was in 1993, oddly enough the same year G.Bettmen started as the commisioner. Cold day in hell? I fully agree.

ROFL.

Catherine James is a remarkable woman but she's probably the last person I'd depend on for hockey picks!

If I started to talk about Ducks, Penguins and Sharks she'd probably ask which zoo I'm planning to visit.

(True story, which CJ has permitted me to share, is that Peyton and I were debating Sidney Crosby over dinner last week and Catherine joined the conversation midway. "Who are we taking about ?" asked CJ. "Sidney Crosby" said Peyton and we both saw her shake her head and move on to the adjoining conversation. At few moments later, Catherine leaned over to me an whispered "as in Sidney Crosby, Stiils and Nash?" Yup. That really happened. So, I'd trust her with almost anything but hockey picks isn't one of them).

Sorry to complicate your thread and, if anyone is going down for those picks , the shame is all mine.
I'm not sure how much knowledge helps.
In our local draft we have a lady who comes every year with very little hockey knowledge.
She openly bases her picks on who she thinks is the best looking.
I believe she has won more years than anyone.. lol

I'm not going to predict rounds because frankly divisional finals bore me but I'm predicting Nashville - Pittsburgh final with Nashville in 6.

They're heating up at the right time and given that Chicago has been horrible, they'll face either Minnesota (not good) or the Blues (hahah Jake Allen) in the second round they have the potential to go far. Great forward depth and excellent defense. Rinne is meh but he doesn't have to be anything other than average.
