    Exclamation Google Street view

    Well well well..

Google has their Street view maps, and they are ever expanding.
I took a look today, and Its rather interesting.
    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...=%7Bkeyword%7D
    but...
You can zoom in on every MP in town and see all the cars, even some people.
sure its just still shots taken at random times, but I could see
the odd SO or wifey looking and seeing someone or a car they know.

    other then that Its AMAZING.
I can even see me and my dog in my back yard!!

I think it is a great service. It is great to know what a building looks like. Sometimes the numbers are hard to find but the look of the building is easy to spot, sometimes even a block away.

I think they've gone too far when I CAN SEE RIGHT INTO MY *#@&ING HOUSE!!!! Thankfully its always clean! But seriously now......

Close your curtains then. They're not showing anyone anything that a passer-by wouldn't be able to see. I seriously doubt anyone you've never met is going to look up your house specifically to see what porn you were watching on your big screen. Or whatever you're doing in there. Quite frankly, I don't want to know.

"Hey, isn't that Johnny outside cutting his grass, I thought he was suppose to be home sick today. Looks like we better go over there and pay that boy a visit."

You see where I am going with this...they have just made invasion of privacy a new art form.

I agree with Spoooner. The information that is kept by Google definitely borders on the wrong side of TMI and a violation of the privacy laws.

They are obscuring faces & license plates so you really have to be distinctive (like Spermie in a pastel suit & alligator shoes or driving the visually identifiable equivalent of the Batmobile) to be undeniably identified.
Maybe, for now, but you know the technology will keep getting better. What about the person that is stalking his ex-wife and she is trying to do everything to avoid him? It sure sways the odds in favour of the stalker.

When I look at my house, I see the next door neighbour kids playing outside on their bikes.

My son and I were driving around last spring, late April I believe, when the Google vehicle was going around. I recall pulling over to let it pass, then following it for 3-4 blocks. Now it's all on Google street view. They did obscure my license plate, but you can easily make out my face and my son's as well.

In July I was in Halifax and passed the Google mapping vehicle too. I should check that out to see if we're there as well.

If the public has access to this at their fingertips i wonder what more evolved observation tools the authorities to monitor. Imagine if the feed were realtime , spy on the whole world, that is crazy, i think vancouver will be pretty watched especially throughout the olympics with the camera systems. in this day and age of technology it is alot harder to get away with crime, darn guess i have to keep my job.
