I echo your sentiments...

we are so lucky to share a contiguous border and live in their shadow...

hell if it wasn't for America, we'd probably be invaded and conquered by Iceland...

Which would you prefer, Hunsberger, a long border with Iran, North Korea or the USA? Frankly, I don't think most Canadians realize how fortunate they are ("emmanuelle excepted"). As one business owner explained to me today, the sense of entitlement amongst young Canadians is terribly inflated. At any rate, we are fortunate here in Canada and we are very fortunate to have such good neighbours.

Sounds exactly like something I would say!

.... but minus the sarcasm, of course. :p

(Come on! Where else in the world does a plane ticket come with a bonus free groping and patting of your intimates? People know a sweet deal when they see one. whoo hoo )

lol

But back to Thanksgiving..... and sarcasm..

We should dump the monarchy and join the USA. Once they sort out all there bullshit. What would you rather have? The Monarchy or the US Consitution?

hm. well that depends. Which (or who's) version/interpretation of the Constitution are we talking about here? You might want to clarify because there seem to be different versions in circulation and new interpretations all the time. If we too can tweak it to what we think it should be and pretend that's what it meant when it was first written....? Hell yah, I'm in baby, bring it on! lol

Although admittedly Canada does offer some similar privileges as well..

Maybe I'll just wait until everyone agrees on the same interpretation before I make a decision. :p

Well since both documents were based on the Magna Carta to begin with, we really are not that far apart. Canadas advantage is that our constitution was crafted far more recently and we had the benefit of watching the US version getting tweaked, twisted and distorted for personal gain and political expediency and consolidation of power and money over a period of 200 years. That said, having lived in the US at least half of my life (most recently in Phoenix), I'm greatly disappointed in the current state of collapse in the US....... Implosion is probably a better word. The US will soon find itself in a similar position to Great Britain in that it takes decades and generations to go from being the leader of the free world to acceptance of being a second rate power. I won't be going "home" any time soon because while I was at school "home" up and moved away on me. It simply isn't there any more.
You and I have a lot in common Bijou.

Rather have the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, since this is Canada, which is doing so much better than the US economically, without the shitty daytime tv.

American Pie: Sexy Thanksgiving!

Pumpkin pie smell stimulates arousal in men; scent is sexy aphrodisiac, says study

The most bewitching scent to lure a man isn't Chanel No. 5. It's the sweet, spicy aroma of a traditional Thanksgiving dessert.

"Throw away the perfume and go get some pumpkin pie," said Dr. Alan Hirsch, Director of Chicago's Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Center, told WBPF in West Palm Beach.

The smell drives men wild with desire, the researchers say. Combine with the scent of lavender and you might have to reach for a bucket of cold water.

Hirsch said that the heady combination increased penile blood flow by an average of 40% in participants.

When cooking pumpkin pie, consider keeping the seeds.

"They are very rich in zinc," Palm Beach Gardens Alternative medicine expert Dr. Ralph Monserrat told WBPF. "There will be an increase in testosterone and that increase will also increase the sexual desire."

Interestingly, Hirsch found that pumpkin pie was just one of many scents that made men think of sex.

The smell of vanilla was a popular stimulant. Men with satisfying sex lives responded strongly to the smell of strawberry.

Don't expect the entire Thanksgiving dinner to bring out the beast in your man.

The scent of cranberry only elicited a 2% increase in penile blood flow.

When the government fears the people you have freedom, when the people fear the government you have tyranny - Thomas Jefferson.
Unfortunately, we in the US seem to be moving towards the latter and away from the former.

alinburnaby: The USA, flawed as it is, is the greatest experiment in democracy which has ever occurred. And by the by, Canada exists as it does in its (relatively) beatific state only because of our long border and excellent relationship with the USA. Without the United States of America beside us, the good life our population is able to maintain would not be possible.
