The monster under your bed
Ummm any bank is usually a good place to start..
just check the exchange rates..
try AMA or CAA.. those are good.
But I've found the bank is usually the best... there is a small exchange in west edmonton mall if your in edmonton. By fantasy land upstairs.
Also get them in American funds, and change them over when you get to where your going. You usually get a wayyyy
better exchange that way.

dont use travelers cheques
a lot of places dont take them and they take a % of it, I cant recall but it was pretty high.
just take your bank card and a credit card (for back up, and set up an online banking account if you already dont have one)
use larger banks the Siam (Purple sign) and one with a Yellow sign (cant recall the name)
and you can take up to 20 000 Baht at once to save you the 3cnd dollars on the foreign withdraw fee from your bank (I bank with CIBC)

have a good time.
