I have had it up to here with the webmail that accompanies my site. It is not particularly user friendly, is ridiculously slow and is completely unreliable. I have been unable to access my e-mail for over twelve hours now, and this isn't the first time I've had this sort of trouble. This is especially problematic when I have an appointment scheduled on a day I cannot access my e-mail, and all the information is in the e-mail from the client.

I want to open up a web-based account with another company, but I'm looking for recommendations.

I like Yahoo, but do not want to use it because I already have a personal account there (too much risk of accidentally being logged into the wrong account).

I despise Hotmail because it seems to take liberties on Windows computers (i.e. automatically populating the login field on other MS applications).

Excite is annoying and my computer doesn't like all the pop-ups.

Haven't tried GMail yet...

So, any recommendations for something that is clean, reliable and doesn't worm its way into my computer?

Hi Jodi,
Gmail is good as well from what I've heard.

I use a paid version one that has cool backgrounds, smilies, different letter head styles, sound effects etc. A friend of mine sent it to me in an email so I went for it. I got tired of the same ole email style that comes with computers or yahoo etc.

It's really cool and I've used it for some time now and I'm happy with it.
Not too many people know about it so here's the link.
Check it out.

Jodie,
I highly recommend GMAIL. You will be able to access your emails as long as you can hit a webpage anywhere in the world.

The second part of this is if you have your current email address forward all your emails to GMAIL, you can transition to your gmail account.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Maybe you guys surf on fishy sites but I've had incredimail for well over 2 years and I've had no problems at all.
No spam for me.

OMG --- GMAIL!!!

I am a total gmail (google) WHORE.

It's not just email, it's a whole new world.. Check it out: http://www.google.com/intl/en/options/

I use the Notebook ALL THE TIME... awesome.

Google docs... I think I'm a little wet just writing it!

Google maps..... ok, now my nipples are rock hard!

Want a calendar you can have access to wherever you are? Google calendar.

Want to have your photos hosted online, create & share photo albums? Do it from your gmail account too! Picassa...

Seriously... gmail is my best friend, I'm just a little disappointed that ot does not spoon.... yet. :D

I don't ever sign in to yahoo for my email anymore, I have it set up so it automatically goes to my gmail inbox. My yahoo email account, as well as 3 other email accounts I have.. All in one spot, it's great!

Need storage space to back up your stuff? How about using GMAIL to replace an external drive? http://www.getgspace.com/

There is soooo much more you can do. And the best part is they just keep adding more and more and more.

I'm a huge Gmail and google docs fan, however you need to be careful with the storage options.

Here's one warning from getgspace:

I don't know if it's changed but you have to be invited to use gmail by another user. That shouldn't be a problem for you :)

Antother reason gmail is good is because you get lots of storage and it's 'tag based'. You don't save whole threads and don't file stuff into folders. Probably you don't need all that functionality but it's nice to have.

Bottom line... you don't have to put up with sluggish performance and downtime for simple email services. Life's too short for that!
