Hi Quality

Sorry about the late reply.

I have had a hard time finding any information about these products. They are certainly all over the internet and they advertise to do some amazing things. I have not been able to find any scientific studies that look at these results. Even when the website says it will increase something by so many percent there is no link to the study that proved this. This makes me suspicious as it is critical that you be able to look at the original study to see how it was designed, who was it studied on, for how long etc...

The other big question is how can you be sure what is in any product that is over the internet and not licensed in Canada.

There is a perceived notion is that if something is “natural” it can not harm you. Approximately one third of modern medicines have been derived from “natural” plants and we all know the potential problems that can be had by taking these. If something is not licensed for use in Canada you are unsure of the quality of the product e.g. how was it made? Where was it made? Are there other potential harmful ingredients such as heavy metals?

The Natural Health Products Directorate

Is an agency set up by Health Canada for safety reasons to regulate natural health products and they have a lot of additional information on their website. This includes retailers that are licensed.

I would just suggest that if you are concerned about a potential problem and that you want to take the herbalist route that you consult a trained person who has experience in this area.

The Canadian Herbalist's Association of BC would be a good place to look for someone.
