Hi Joe King
It is possible to spread the herpes virus to other parts of the body. This can happen if you touch the herpes sore and then touched somewhere else e.g. your eye. This is called autoinoculation and is most likely to happen during your first outbreak. About 4 months after your first outbreak your immune system has made antibodies which make’s this unlikely to happen.
If you touched a herpes sore all you would need to do is wash your hands with soap and water. Just practice normal hygiene e.g. wash hands after going to the bathroom, touching genitals, masturbating etc…
In answer to your question if you had genital herpes there would not be a risk of passing it to other parts of the body while washing or bathing.
