Hi Noob888

Condoms will really reduce the risk to sexually transmitted infections. We know that they work well for infections like HIV, chlamydia and gonorrhea when having vaginal/rectal sex. For infections like syphilis, herpes and genital warts they will offer some protection but there is still a risk of transmission as these infections pass from skin to skin.

Having oral sex with a condom is probably one of the safest ways you can have sex. In regard to the infections that are passed via skin to skin contact you would think there would be less chance with protected oral sex as there is not as much skin to skin contact like in genital sex. I have not been able to find any research articles that confirm this.

Have a look at the following article we wrote on oral sex.
