I just looked at NHLnumbers.com and they have alot of good peices coming back next year. They are going to get ~5 mil more in cap space with the cap going up, and they are going to lose some high priced contracts.

They have 8 forwards @ 13.7 mil. (need 4)
Sedin, Daniel
Sedin, Henrik
Kesler, Ryan
Pyatt, Taylor
Cowan, Jeff
Raymond, Mason
Burrows, Alexandre
Pettinger, Matt

They have 7 d-men signed @ 17 mil
Mitchell, Willie
Salo, Sami
Ohlund, Mattias
Krajicek, Lukas
Bourdon, Luc
Edler, Alexander
Bieksa, Kevin

And of course they have Luongo signed at 7 mil.

That means that they will have 17.2 mil to sign
4 forwards
0 d-men
1 back-up goaltender

A good back-up goaltender shouldn't cost more that 1 mil, which means that Vancouver will have 16 mil left to sign 4 forwards!!! They will have to decide if they want to re-sign Naslund, Morrison, and Linden, but that should still leave alot of cap room to pick up some UFAs that can score....

I guess what I'm saying is that Vancouver could come back a lot better and much angrier than they did this year

Ya but keep in mind every other team in the NHL is also going to have that extra 5 million is cap space as well.

There is really not a lot out there in the way of free agents this year so the competition for whats out there will be pretty fierce.

No point of over paying a FW this year , wait another year before we go on a spending free. But i guess the media and the band wagoners won't want that.

They wont be better or angrier if Naslund, Morrison, Linden, Ohlund, come back. If this is the case it's over before it's begun. I'll call them sleeping Lambs! LOL

After reviewing the list of UFA/RFA's here are some thoughts

Lots of older UFA's such as Sundin, Selanne, Sakic etc etc that will either resign with their team or retire

UFA's like Hossa and Demitra that will probably be overpaid and do we really need anymore European's on the team

Here are some of my thoughts on what they should do:

Offer RFA Carter (Phi) a contract. Most likely PHI will re-sign him but it's payback to Clarke

Make a trade for a player under contract.

Here are some UFA's that I think the Canucks should be interested in:

Ryder MTL
Hagman DAL ( I know he is European but he plays hard )
J.Williams Chi
Malone PIT

If they do swing a trade or two, a good trading partner would be the Habs, since they have a surplus of good young forwards. For some reason,

I keep thinking Columbus too. They've gone absolutely nowhere in the past 5 years, and they do have some good young talent. I would think one could wrestle Nash off their hands if a package including Ohlund and the twins was offered?

The Pens and Malkin would be a dream come true, but that just ain't gonna happen

Rolston of Minny is also a UFA. I wouldn't mind him as he seems to play with a lot of heart.

And I don't think ohlund and the twins for nash is realistic.

Nash just become the team Captain in Columbus. Pens aren't dumb enough to trade Malkin.
