What are some of everybodys favourite cover tunes. Here are a few of mine

Jimi Hendrix- All Along the Watchtower (Originally Bob Dylan)
Headstones-Tweeder and the MOnkeyman (Originally The Traveling Wilburys)
CCR- I Heard it Through the Grapevine (Originally done by Marvin Gaye*)
Disturbed-Shout (Originally Done by Tears For Fears)
Orgy-Blue Monday (Originally Done by New Order)
Cream-Crossroads (Originally by Robert Johnson)

My List is essentially endless but let's see what others have to say first

* Was also Recorded by both Marvin Gaye and Gladys Knight and the Pips but the Marvin Gaye version is the most widely recognized version

Linda Ronstadt's cover of "Blue Bayou" doesn't match the original by the brilliant Roy Orbison, but it's pretty damn good.

Linda also sings a decent version of Smokey Robinson's "Tracks of my Tears", originally recorded by the Miracles. Other covers of the song by Aretha Franklin and Johnny Rivers charted as well.

Back to Roy, I guess you could say he covered himself with the late career re-release of the epic "Crying" which he recorded together with Canada's own kd lang. Powerful stuff.

The worst cover version of all time has to be "Hey Jude" by Bing Crosby. It was awful enough as it was, but instead of ending with "Na Na Na.....", it ended with "Pum Pum Pum....." :p

Temptation by Holly Cole, if I'm not mistaken most if not all of the CD is written by Tom Waits. It's very dark but her voice suits it perfectly.

Jeff Beck did an awesome Beatles cover of "She's a woman". I think he did a few more, but it escapes me.

Marilyn Manson did a cover of Patty Smith's "Rock and Roll Nigger"

Tool did Led Zeppelin's "No Quarter"

Johnny Cash also did a cover of "13" by Danzig, I believe.

Frank Sinatra did some great covers of "Mack the Knife" and Jobim's "Girl from Ipanema.

"Who do you love" George Thoroughgood - Original, Bo Diddley.

The Rolling Stones also did a cover of Bo Diddley's "Bring it to Jerome"

"No woman, No cry" The Fugees. Original - Bob Marley

"Billie Jean" - Chris Cornell. We all now who did the original, I presume.

Damn! I have more, but I'm drawing a blank.

Killswitch Engage did a really good cover of "Holy Diver", originally done by Ronnie James Dio.

"Land of Confusion" by Disturbed, (originally done by Genesis) isn't too bad either.

Lately my musical tastes have been a little on the heavier side lately.
