Recently, it has been brought to my attention that some SP’s have been given “a free ride” by either bylaw or LE in both Calgary and Edmonton. The condition, that the SP’s help set up pooners. I have had a couple gentlemen tell me that the girls get busted, and then get off the charges by setting pooners up. How true this is, I’m not too sure. However, I have to say that if this is true, I’m disgusted by these SP’s actions. To possibly ruin a pooner’s life, just to save a couple thousand dollars is horrible. You can make a couple grand in 2 - 3 days, and your willing to ruin a gentleman’s life for that?
So far, I have not been given any names of the SP’s that are said to have been involved. They might be from the boards, they might be from Craigslist. I’m not sure. Like I said, I have heard it from a couple gentlemen recently. It might be a rumour that has spread like wildfire. However, I felt it might be best to let people know just in case.
If it is true, and your one of the SP’s involved, you should be ashamed and should really look into a career in retail or as a waitress.

all the more reason to move to BC!

the LE, while not really ignoring the situation with escorts,
typically concentrate their efforts on the 'street' and not
those in business indoors.

a classic example was one visit i paid to a prominent escort service
and when i came out the front door there were 3 cruisers and 6 officers
on the street and my first thought was that I was 'busted'!

Nope, not one cop even glanced in my direction because they were
busy giving a 5-foot-nothing 'streetwalker' a hard time over her choice
of location, business, attire and whatever else they could think of ...

I don't know if its the same situation happening in Calgary or whether
they are busting businesses indoors, but the whole 'entrapment'
situation is tough to get into Court ...

not to mention that the LE in ALTA like the 'embarrass the John' routine
to get a confession when in fact, there is nothing illegal about two
consenting adults having sex ... and giving someone a gift for being
kind is no crime either ...

but typically its the guy who doesn't want his spouse to find out about
his pooning who will confess and convict himself when in fact the police
cannot 'out' you without your consent.

If anyone gets busted simply shut up and request a lawyer ... and keep
requesting a lawyer at the top of your lungs!

DISCLAIMER: I am not a lawyer, nor should you take what I write here as gospel or legal advice. It's simply what I currently understand to be the truth, and I could be wrong.

Be careful. It's not "entrapment" unless a police officer encourages you to do something illegal that you would not have normally done on your own. Therefore, if you contact a SP and arrange for service, and the SP turns out to be a cop, it's not entrapment. It would take a cop pretending to be a SP to ask you if you want to have sex for money for it to be the big E.

The Criminal Code of Canada also doesn't describe prostitution itself as illegal. It's the solicitiation of sex for money that's illegal. In other words, you can't ask anyone to trade sex for money, but you can HAVE sex for money.

I was made to understand that the solicitation law is there to keep it off the streets. As you mentioned, VPD Vice is mostly interested in keeping the streetwalkers (and therefore the drug trade) away from certain neighbourhoods.
