Does the relationship matching service "ItsJustLunch.com" really work?

Last year, I was told by some member on this forum that LifeMatesCanada.com was a scam but what about ItsJustLunch.com? :(

I just saw their advertisement on television. It's not a dating website but a match making service where you meet up with an expert in person at their office and then he/she will set you up on a blind date with someone whom he/she thinks suits you.

Anyone used them before?

They are not a scam, but they are expensive. They cater to the downtown professional crowd.

Do a search on Google. They have plenty of bad press and are apparently notorious for hooking you up with people who do not meet your criteria. Too bad their integrity has been called into question; it's a great idea otherwise.

Here are some links for you to peruse:

Tons more, but I think you get the picture...

Your right InTheBum.....who could argue with the current success you enjoy from your way of doing things?
Mr. Hubba...this service is setup for guys like you! Real slick guys, far too professional and successful to find women on their own...

personal experience...

I was with IJL the past couple of years...here are my comments:

There are 3 types of women in my demographic, no particular order:

1. Asian women trying to expande their social circle.
2. Late 30's career woman who now want kids.....but can't fit dates in their busy schedules.
3. Recently single women looking for the fellow skier, or whatever extreme sport is in vogue.

When you get to my age, (mid 40's) there are probably a few reasons why people are single.

Overall, I enjoyed the experience....plus, she antes up her share of the bill....it got me out to restaurants (dinners, only 1 lunch)....and it's nice to know you sometimes you don't have the worst table manners at the table. I was in a really good demographic and had over 30 dates in just over a year....I took time out when I wanted to date just one girl. Got action from 3....I think I only had 5 or 6 second dates. Some girls were gorgeous...but like I said before, there is a reason why people are single. I finally stopped the service, with time left on my subscription. Sometimes, they would want to schedule 2 or 3 dates a week.....I thought that was a bit weird, especially if you connect with one early in the week.

Having personal experience with IJL - it is a pricey service, but an relatively good experience. It is better than blindly going on lavalife, getting setup through your friends or hitting the bar scene. They sit down with you to get to know what you are looking for and earnestly try to match you up.

I was leary at first, but the whole process and how they handled things felt professional and non-cheesy. It is a nice as when you meet your date, there is no pretense of why you are there.

I would mildly recommend it to others, as YMMV but I had a pretty experience with IJL. Again - it is geared towards the downtown, professional crowd, so it may not be for everyone.

Thank you, gentlemen. I will consider it after I turn 35. I am 28 right now so they probably do not have enough women around my age.

truth be told....

my mother co-erced me into joining....the price rose just after I joined, and I believe it's close to $1500 with gst for a year or 12 dates ( I had closer to 35, maybe it's me)....

It's a step up from lavalife...but ultimately, it's just a product people sell, and the most sexually interesting girl was the one that interviewed me at the IJL meeting.

The irony of life, is the cute girl that you try to make small talk with at Starbucks (or??) and won't give you the time of day, spends her life on lava or IJL, looking for her white shining knight. And they moan and whine 'why can't they meet a nice guy?'

Also, most of the Chinese women, seemed to feel incomplete if they weren't part of a 'family' with a husband.....even though they are independent single mothers doing ok in Canada. That's a tough sell.
