this was asked about in the open forum. Good or bad and why does Canada not allow the practice (I think the US does)? thanks
Hi bustyluster
The practice of ear candling is out of my expertise but there is some good information on health Canada’s web site.
http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/iyh-vsv/med/ear-oreille_e.html
I think this quote from them sums up there view of ear candling.
“Health Canada recommends that you avoid ear candling. It is dangerous and it provides no medical benefits”
From what I understand the purpose of ear candling is to remove cerumen (ear wax) if it has built up. Having lukewarm water injected with an ear syringe by a health care professional is a safe proven method to resolve this problem.
