if you're a john and you're busted, you get to go to school!
An sp I used to see regularly before she left the business told me that there is a program called "John School" in my neck of the woods, Vancouver. It's where johns who are busted trying to pick us sw's go for "re-education" instead of getting a criminal record, if they complete the program. I asked her what happens to the sw's who are busted, and she said "arrested, convicted or convinced to plead guilty, criminal record (if they don't have one already)". So how is this fair? Not saying anyone should be busted, but if I were caught, I'd get to go to school (yayyyy, recess!) and pretend that I've learned my lesson with no legal consequence whatsoever, but the girl I tried to pick up might have been new on the street, scared, needing money for rent or yes, maybe 'substances', and get arrested and a criminal mark on her record. So a further barrier for that girl to finding a "normal" job, or education opps. There are some girls who do leave the business/the street and manage to do fairly well, right? Maybe I should be greatful that the odds favor me, as a guy, but something seems unjust about those circumstances. And yeah, everytime the vic police gets a new police chief, that's how the new head honcho shows he's a toughie, I guess. Pick on the stroll workers. Easier to overpower women and horrified men in their cars rather than big tough gangsters, muggers and murderers.
'Scuse my rant. Taz
