Hell ya! I like both as well... for different reasons
love montreal too
for completely different reasons!
Something great about all these cities... but saying Vancouver is most welcoming and friendly than Calgary isn't quite true IMHO.
Calgary is growing hella fast and I guess that is something that may not be true in the future, but for the moment it still has a smaller city vibe whereas Vancouver has a big city, more jaded kinda vibe. The snotty attitude (which doesnt apply to everyone of course) is something I haven't experienced in Calgary like I have in Vancouver. But of course, there are many exceptions in both cases.
I've just notice it's a lot more difficult to just strike up conversation with strangers out of nowhere most times in Vancouver. You get a lot of confused looks of "why is this person talking to me?" confusion, not too sure how to react. You can totally tell by the facial expression.. I've always found it strange. But I think ppl aren't too trusting perhaps from past experience.. Vancouver is the place I've been ripped off in various ways the most. A lot of great ppl, but unfortunately a lot of sketchy ppl creates a different atmosphere...which doesn't come across aas welcoming for new ppl to the city. IMO Calgary doen't have that yet, probably why I instantly feel the difference everytime I go..
Only exception is dog ppl
Dog ppl are great and very friendly Anywhere I go when I'm out with my dog.
Non dog ppl/dog haters...errr... let's not go there.
