Holy Shit...

I remember watching him grow as a wrestler in the small towns venues of stampede wrestling, the biz just lost a legend today...

Yeah, the only wrestling I've seen live was years ago in a small town. Chris was with Stampede wrestling then. I think him and Davy Boy Smith were the only names to eventually make it.

Definately a sad day as he was always a fan favourite.

I wonder if it might be carbon minoxide poisoning from the house furnace or something like that.

Should have read further. The police are investigating as homicide.

Oh my god I'm in shock. Apparantley early reports say he may have killed his son and wife days before killing himself. He was my hero when I was a teenager and I'll never forget meeting him with my brother during his Stampede days and watching him wrestle Austin at Skyreach years ago. I'm not afraid to admit that my hands are shaking a bit right now and i teared up watching the memorial show.

Very shocking to hear Chris Benoit doing that to his wife and son if in fact he did do it, His wife Nancy was married once to WCW wrestler Kevin Sullivan, and there was real heat fo years between Kevin Sullivan and Chris Benoit. I've seen Chris wrestle many times live in Vancouver when the WWE came and WWE WrestleMania XIX in Seattle in 2003, was an excellent performer.

I though the quick reply about him killing his family was alittle pre-mature to post up on CNN as if it was wrong, its a slap in the face for the Benoit family.

Murder suicide. Barring some outlandish story, like he owed money to the mob or something, that's about the only thing it could be.

Must have been some serious mental health issues going on. Very tragic.

This is a really sad story. I'm starting to think that the curse of Stampede Wrestling is real. Davey Boy, Pillman, Owen are all pasted. Dynamite Kid is paralyzed, Bret with the stroke and now Benoit. The only big names that came from the Stampede Wrestling days that have not have had something really bad happen is Jericho and Honkey Tonk. Tragedy seems to be following these guys around.

This is a tragedy. The curse of Stampede Wrestling is almost as bad as the Curse of The Von Erich's back in the 80's and 90's.

Biff Wellington has also passed away this weekend. Bad News Allen passed away earlier this year as well.

Gary Albright aka Volkan Singh, Owen Hart, Brian Pillman, Lethal Larry Cameron, Davey Boy Smith, Bulldog Bob Brown, Bad News Allen, Biff Wellington, Chris Benoit, JR Foley <managing at ringside with that war helmet on his head>, Rhonda Singh, and Ed Whalen announcing all the action going on in the ring. I can just see the Battle Royal going on right now.

RIP Chris, Biff, Allen and the rest of the gang.

It is really sad seeing all these wrestlers going so early, Owen Hart, Ravishing Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect Curt Henning, Road Warrior Hawk, Sherri Martel, Hercules, Eddie Gurrerro, and now Chris Benoit. If Chris Benoit did indeed commit these murders, the WWE will more then likely erase him from memory, and won't induct him into their WWE Hall of Fame.

I find it very hard to believe hr committed those crimes...you have to factor in they were probably murdered and the person committed it made it look like Benoit did it.

Look's like his legacy is going to be tainted with the results of the investigation...

I find this totally shocking and am in disbelief as I type.

How and what drove him to the point of this tragedy, we might never know...

R.I.P. Chris, Nancy and little Daniel

He was a great wrestler and a great Canadian. He'll be missed.
Great Canadian?????

The latest news is that he strangled his wife and smothered his 7 year old son. He then committed suicide.

Why do these assholes always decide to take their wife and kids with them. If their life sucks so bad then just take a dive off a high bridge but leave your wife and kids alone.

If this is true he will burn in hell for it.

Great Canadian, Yep, right up there with Clifford Robert Olson.
