Can you please tell me what health risks I'd be running be being on the receiving end of a golden shower?

Thanks.

Hi Pantylick

I was not able to find any studies that have examined the risks of STI/HIV related to golden showers but contact with urine is generally not concerned to be a health risk.

Urine that comes in contact with intact skin is not considered to be a health risk for infections such as HIV or Hepatitis B. There may be a theoretical possibility of these infections being passed if urine comes in contact with a mucous membrane e.g. eyes, mouth, vagina.

There is not enough (if any) HIV present in urine to pose a risk of transmission. If there is blood present in the urine it may be theoretically possible to pass HIV this way.

The Hepatitis B virus has been detected in urine even when there is no blood present. This doesn’t happen in all people with Hepatitis B and it is not clear how much of a risk this creates. Getting the vaccine would solve this problem and it is free and easy to get.

There is also a possibility of passing gonorrhea or chlamydia via urine if the urine came in contact with mucous membranes ie getting piss in your eyes. Most people who have these infection do not notice any symptoms and that is why we recommend regular testing. These infections can be tested by peeing in a cup and they are easily treated.

Please feel free to comment or ask us to expand on a topic. Remember if you would like to ask me a personal question just send me a PM.
