another good signing from Nonis. it might have been the easiest one this off-season, but none the less a good signing.
the deal is reported at just a little over 3.0M for 2years according to tsn.ca
nonis was on the team 1040 today also talking about Bulis and how they are open to the idea of him returning

right now there is two good signing from the canucks in the past week with Kesler locked up in a good deal and now pyatt:D

If Bulis would play the same way he did the last half of the season resigning him would be a no brainer. I thought he was the hardest working canuck out there and he had speed and some moves, something nobody else on the team has (canucks are a very slow team). Heck bulis was even throwing big hits (I'm sure the rookie D-man on LA remembers Bulis).

But since Bulis managed to play as bad as he did the first half of the season I could see him doing that again, and he also seems a bit retarded, so I wouldn't be at all sad to see him go because I think he is a risk.

You know, I don't mind this signing. When he refused the $1.2m offer earlier, I thought he was crazy and I said "good riddance". After a fairly decent playoff performance and considering his age, I'm now happy to have him for $1.5m.

As for Bulis...I would have gotten rid of him anytime during the season, but he was a man reborn in the playoffs. Good penalty killing and great speed, he really redeemed himself in my eyes.

ps...I am not a GM, but I play one in videogames ;)

When they had Bulis, and Hansen playing together... there was nothing catching those 2... I think Bulis needs someone to push him.. Like it was said... Vancouver is a slow team... Bulis and Hansen can't do it all...

Pyatt does play soft for being such a big man, but power fowards take much longer to develop then other forwards. Power forwards normally have a break out season around the age of 26 or 27, Pyatt is only 25.
He does have some upside to him, so hopefully we'll see it before this contract is over.

Good on Pyatt for staying in Vancouver and not testing the open market. The Sedins make Pyatt good and they did the same with Carter and Carter is nothing without them.

This is a good signing since Pyatt is young and good with the Sedins.

i agree that he should use his size more often, but i remember during the dallas series, he was using his size advantage by finishing his checks and puck possession. i doubt he'll ever be a true power-forward, just probably a cheaper version of joe thornton (except being a winger and less skilled).

signing pyatt means consistency for the Sedins, and that gives
the Canucks one solid line. Sure, they disappeared in the playoffs,
but they beat Dallas (never easy) and then had to play the Ducks
who will probably win the Cup ...

and had to do it with mainly the moose on the ice!

as for Bulis, useless for the season ... but what a bonus
in the playoffs!!! watching him slip two Duck d-men and
get a solid shot on net was poetry in motion! if he turns out
to be the guy who only brings it for the playoffs, how is that bad???

too many Canucks disappeared in the playoffs and i was amazed
that they even managed a win against dallas, let alone beat them!

My fave D-man Biestka (???) was a huge liability in the playoffs ...
in the regular season he was solid, good outlet passes, could carry
the puck as well, score, hit and shutdown other lines ... WOW!

To me, it seemed like the only guy to show up for the playoffs was
Bulis!!! then Hansen got called up (or wherever he came from) and
played like a man possessed.

but where was the 'holy grail' Smolinski? seems like he signed
with the nucks expecting an early start on his golf game.

Anyway, I like Pyatt ... good fit, good attitude, likes the front of
the net, and will pack on some size over time ... nothing wrong
with a solid player who plays team hockey.
