A 17-year-old Acton boy who accidentally shot himself with a homemade gun is now facing charges after police seized a number of experimental weapons from his home.
Halton police were called to a Georgetown-area hospital last Friday night after hospital administration reported treating the boy for a bullet wound to his hand.
When searching the boy’s home, police found a loaded rifle and four handcrafted BB guns, and discovered the boy had been trying to adapt one of the weapons to fire a .22-calibre bullet.
The boy, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces charges of careless use of a firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm.
