Anyone has any knowledge of this disease? I know something about it, but the most important question I want to know is how long does it stay undetected? If you have it and you dont know it, does it stay in yr body forever? My ex-wife got it and she is accusing me of spreading it to her.

Chlamydia can go undetected for a very loooong time. Some people say even years and it can stay in your body without you or your SO having any symptoms.

Apparently it takes between 1 to 3 weeks for it to show up on a test after you become infected.

Dude... do you have Chlamydia as well?... I don't know, you seem to be more at risk than her if you're a pooner and she's not. But even then, I think it's almost impossible to know who got it first.

Just get treated and forget about who got it. Your problem is a problem of trust now, not a health problem.

Hi mrit18

Chlamydia, a very common sexually transmitted infection, which can be a difficult one because many people do not get symptoms (they feel fine). Up to 70% of woman and 50% of men do not notice symptoms. Sometimes symptoms, if present, can be vague. For example men may just get a slight itch in their urethra (pee tube) which can come and go.

To answer your question it is possible for anyone to have chlamydia for a long time. If the person is not getting tested and is not showing any symptoms they would probably not know that they have it. At a conference I went to 2 yrs ago a paper was presented where they found that in woman with no symptoms 54% would clear the chlamydia within 1 year, 82% within 2 years and 94% within 5 years.

If both of you have been sexually active with other people and not been tested it can be difficult to work out were it came from.

I would suggest that you go for a test. Even if that test is negative you should still get treatment because the test is not 100% accurate.

The good thing about chlamydia is that it is completely curable with antibiotics. But if untreated it can cause pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) in woman which can lead to infertility. It may also cause infertility in men although the reasons why are not yet clear.
