Hep B at least and meningitis too to be safe I would guess. But wait for HN's answer to be sure.

I don't think there's an "official" list, but I'd like to hear what are some of the vaccines that one SHOULD (like the high priorities ones) get when seeing escorts.

Hope HN can shed some light, as I'll be seeing my doc soon, and hence I can tell her what vaccines I need, or at least check if I have it already.

Hello board,
What vaccines should one get before messing around with escorts?

Hi dead mac

It would be important to get the hepatitis B vaccine. In Vancouver you can get this free vaccine from a local STI clinic. We believe all the public health and STI clinics in BC offer this vaccine for free but you may want to ask them before you visit. The link below has a list of STI clinics in BC.

If you perform rimming you could consider getting a hepatitis A vaccine as well. If you decided to have this vaccine it is usually not available for free.

Twinrix is a combination Hepatitis A and B that is available at travel clinics or your family doctor, but it is not free. You do not need to tell them why you want the vaccine. You can say that you are traveling to a country where Hepatitis A is common.

who's HN?
Is meningitis an STD?

Hi dead mac

HN is health nurse.

We are a group of registered nurses with the BC Center for Disease Control working in sexually transmitted infection (STI) and HIV prevention. We provide online information on PERB in the health information forum. People either post a question on a thread or send us a PM.

Bacterial meningitis can be a very serious infection but is not considered to be an STI/STD. It spreads when you come in contact with droplets from the nasal or throat secretions of an infected individual. This means that this bacterium can be passed by kissing, and sharing drinks or cigarettes. You could also get it if someone who is infected sneezes or coughs on you.

There are vaccines available to protect against certain types of bacterial meningitis. The vaccines are recommended depending on your individual situation. We have provided a link below to the public health agency of Canada’s web site that discusses this.

Thank you my dear..you've been most helpful. I'll get the Twinrix and shoot 2 birds with one shot. Is it done in stages like the hep a vaccine?

Hi dead mac

The Twinrix schedule is the same as the hepatitis b schedule in that you get 3 shots over 6 months. For example if you got a shot today you would need to get your 2nd shot in 1 months time and you would get your 3rd shot 5 months later.

One should consider same vaccines even when only messing around with non-escorts. Unfortunately STI's don't know or care whether one's an escort or not. ;)

Just sayin'... :)
hehe..smart girl. actually that's exactly the reason i was asking. i'm looking for sexual health info on an escort board. whatever works :)
so which vaccines do u think i should get..other than the Hep A/B one?

Hi dead mac

That is the only vaccine that we recommend for sexual health reasons.

There are other vaccines like the basic ones that we get as children that some are given every 10 years to keep your immunity (ie tetanus). There are also vaccines for traveling depending on where you are going.

Hi Miss*Bijou

A very good point and certainly the information we post on this board is health information that is relevant for anyone who is sexually active.
