thanks for the suggestions!

twomoos looks interesting but I'm not (so I thought*) looking for shareware

torrentreactor provided a bunch of options (one of which I'm downloading now) and will likely bookmark it for future reference

*What started this recent bit of piracy is me needing to create a couple of pdf documents. I'm in Lake Louise for a few days enjoying the slopes and ski bunnies and one of the guys I'm here with wanted copies of the hill/lift maps I've created in visio. He doesn't have visio so I offered to make him a pdf version. I thought I had installed adobe acrobat on my new pc but nope, must have missed it. No big deal, or so I thought, I'll just do the honorable thing and order it online and download it and a new keycode. Well fuck me with a 4x4.....those dirty bastards want $450 usd for the full package or $300 for the cheep version. I'm sorry but I'm prepared to do the right thing and pay for software I regularly use but $450 is a little steep especially considering that I can get a free licensed/legit verson in the new year when I'm back at work. On a whim I go to twomoos and search for "adobe writer" and it returns a link for a program called DeskPDF, which I can legitimately download for free. Think its too good to be true but download it and sure as shit it creates PDF files just fine. I scan my system and there's no new ad/spyware found, no shitty ads embedded in the document. Whats the catch?

Might aswell just download Visio. If you bag the full MS Office 2003 it should be around 5 CD's. Mine is now sitting on the shelf, and can you believe I'm using a legit MS Office. 2007 beta 2 technical refresh.

I found a program called Cute PDF writer. It installs as a printer on your system. If you want to print a document as a PDF, just select this "printer", and you now have a PDF file. It works quite well.

Hey Grav, try out PDFCreator, its free and lightweight. So it doesnt add extra things that Acrobat does and slow down your new lappy.

I have been using it for a while with great success. All you have to do is 'print' to it.

THX for the suggestions! You may also want to check out docudesk (www.docudesk.com) as it has some neat features like being able to drag a non-PDF file onto the docudesk icon to convert. Also fairly resource light.....~25mb vs. acrobat 8 @ ~600mb.

That's interesting. What newsgroup service do you subscribe to? Do they get censored? Can you get anything? How fast are posts removed?

what the fuck????

I've tried four different seeds for ms office 2007 and three have stalled out at ~99.5% (and have stayed like that for at least 24 hours) and the last is moving as slow as a CRA employee. All had healthy seed/leach ratios. Am I missing something or is this just one of the deals with ripping software?
