Sony VGNC140G

After much abuse my iBook went tits up a couple of months ago so time to look for a replacement computer. As much as I liked the ease of use with the Mac it turns out I'm really a PC kind of guy

Problem is there's a limited number of laptops out there with a small footprint. I'd looked at the Lenovo but frankly am a little concerned with the brand and their support. HP has a nice compact model but its fucking expensive. So I was happy to find this Sony advertised the other day. Checked out the specs and seemed to be a pretty good deal for the money. Picked it up the other day and just got it out of the box and started to play with it. So far so good! :)

it was the 12" G4 purchased in December '04......it was a ultimately a hardware failure since I tried to reimage and it still had the same problem.....talking to some people who know Mac's figured it was a problem with the system board (makes sense to me) so its been parted out and the display, CD/DVD, etc will be sold on ebay

Crazy man!!

I'm planning to go buy a Macbook Pro (the $2199 one) refuse to spend anymore on a fukkin laptop. But I plan to run bootcamp on it and have the best of both worlds.

I don't really know why I'm buying a MAC, I have no specific reasons for a laptop other than portability and to cure any boredom when I go over to friends I can whip out the laptop and fukk around on it.

I've seen enough download sites to do the opposite, so there is no reason you can't run OS X on a windows machine.

Wow! that used to be impossible with the processors being different, but now that they're made by the same company (Intel), I wonder if this is possible... :)

Boot Camp lets you install Windows XP without moving your Mac data, though you will need to bring your own copy to the table, as Apple Computer does not sell or support Microsoft Windows. Boot Camp will burn a CD of all the required drivers for Windows so you don't have to scrounge around the Internet looking for them.

it's not (running osX on regular pc's) and it never will be. Apple is a hardware company, not a software company. Allowing their OS to be used on common pc hardware would be a fast way to death.

There are a couple of pieces of software that will let you run windows on current macs - Parallels and Boot Camp. Boot Camp is from apple and will let you dual-boot - choose either windows or osx when you start up. Parallels is 3rd party software and will let you run both windows and osx at the same time.

Actually it is possible to run OSX on a PC but it's not supported.

Apple is a software company that thinks it is a hardware company. If they would realize that and let go of the hardware end then they may actually be able to rival Microsoft.
