Hi Guardian Angel
You need to do a specific test to check for HIV. I know it seems like you are getting tested for everything as they are taking so many tubes of blood, but you usually need one tube of blood for each test.
Depending on what your doctor is concerned about will depend on what tests you are getting done. If your doctor does not know about your sexual history they may neglect to do these tests and you may only be getting tested for things such as blood sugar, cholesterol etc…
Your doctor can not do a HIV test for you without your consent so chance are if they have not talked to you about it you are not getting tested for HIV.
Many health care providers can feel uncomfortable about discussing sexual health issues and many clients feel uncomfortable about bringing it up. This usually results in not getting tested for STI/HIV.
When you visit your doctor you can ask to get a sexual health check up or just ask for the individual tests. Just because you ask for a HIV test does not mean that you need to discuss your entire sexual history if you feel uncomfortable.
Here is a thread that we did on getting tested.
