Well we have a week left before the season takes off with a bang. So far i'm not impressed with there efforts. Granted its only pre-season, but wouldn't we like to see them crush Calgary, ( No disrespect to are fellow pooning brothers to the East) and the rest of the competition. They beat Minnesota twice but they were missing a key ingredient to there line up. That would be Marian Gabrok (spelling?) The changes the Canucks made this year is a far cry to what other clubs have made in are Division. Like Colorado and Detroit.

What about this talk of the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich wanting to buy a NHL club. For those who aren't familiar with him. This wealthy guy bought Chelsea Football club in the UK for $313 million and then spent an additional $248 million in new players. Thats a total of $561 million spent, and we are talking US dollars here. A team like Vancouver would be a drop in the bucket as far as expenses goes. Its reported that if he did buy a club he would want it to have all Russian players. I feel that would never happen because he likes to win. Second who would support a team made up solely of Russian players?

Tony Gallagher from the Province says the Canucks don't have a chance this year. I think thats a little premature. Who thinks they are going to improve over last year or should start preparing there golf bags. Who do you feel they should have added to the line up, taking into account the Canucks limited budget?
Any thoughts on are team the Canucks? --- Kev

Yes Jackfrost,

I agree, the Avs have to many superstar egos and lack of goal tending. Let's hope the Avs have a bad year for Canucks sake! As for the Canucks, I never judge them on their pre-season games. Alot of the times coaches put on the rookies and juggle line ups to see what line mix has potential. I think they'll do well this year. There's be a lot of hungry guys on the team hoping to advance farther in the playoffs. Let's hope goal tending will be a lot better this year, otherwise it will be an early end to the season.

You can't put much stock in pre-season performance. The veterans usually don't get as much ice time so the rookies can get some experience. I would be suprised if they don't make the playoffs again this year. The Canucks seems to have pretty good team chemistry and they didn't make many changes so hopefully the chemistry is still there. Hopefully the teams that made more significant changes will have lost some of their chemistry. I think some teams will in our division will be worse. Indications are that Marion Gavorik doesn't plan on returning to Minnesota any time soon, if he doesn't expect them to drop significantly in the standings. Then there is Anaheim, losing Paul Kariya and trying to replace him with Sergie Federov, IMHO Kariya is a much better player and I expect Anaheim will do worse also.

As for the Playoffs unless the Canucks perform significantly better than last year I don't hold much hope for them even getting past the first round. If the Blues hadn't lost Al MacInnis and been decimated by the flu I'm sorry to say they wouldn't have beaten them last year. Then in the Minnesota series the games they won they barely squeeked by and they looked terrible in the games they lost. Giving up a 3-1 series lead to an inexperienced team like Minnesota doesn't say much about this teams character. They better dig a little deeper this year.

One thing I am not happy with the Canucks is their efforts so far..., most of the time, it was either being outshot or outworked by other teams than comes Dan the man with his inconsitency...

Is Hedberg a good plan B, if Dan the man slumps coming out of the gates? I know he played with #66 last year, but didn't see him in action a lot.

Sharks 4 ------ Canucks 1 uglyyyyyy

Well heres how i see it.

The goaltending is still suspect. Time well tell if Hedberg can stop a puck.

Our defence is still lacking we aquired whats his face but thats not enough.

If you have a poor defence then you better have as awesome offence. I think we all agree we got that covered.

And for christ sakes boys stay out of the penalty box. --- Kev

New Jersey can keep those cups. I would rather be entertained than be put to sleep.

Sir......... i'm in a hockey pool thats what i'm doing right now.
Its an office pool. The same guy wins every year i should just save some time and give him my $10 bucks. --- Kev

I just took a glance at the Province paper and i see Fedor Fedorov was sent back to the Moose. If he was just little of his former brother we would have something in Fedor. Maybe he doesn't want to be here. He seems to be doing everything wrong this pre-season. --- Kev

Well the canucks never really get off to a great start in my opinion it always seems to take them a bit of time to get going... i certainly hope they get going this year, I also hope I can get some tickets...

Backwards

Canucks will take a step backwards. One injury to Ohlund or Jovanski and they were only a 0.500 record club with one of them out of the lineup. Imagine if an injury hits Bertuzzi or Naslund?

Canucks 4 ---- Oilers 2

It was looking a little brighter last night as the Canucks spanked the Oilers.

Staying with hockey...........

What about that crash that put Dany Heatley and Dan Synder in the hospital with injuries. Dan Synder is in critical condition, Mr. Heatley has a broken jaw.

Dany Heatley is such an amazing talent, i hope they both recover from this. --- Kev

I think the Canucks will finish high in the conference but in the playoffs will be lucky to get past second round. Bert and Nassy will have great regular seasons but fade in the playoffs. Bert's too whiney and Nassy doesn't have the grit necessary to make an impact when it's playoff time.

But I still go to the games!

Drive slow men.

What is with these irresponsible male drivers that get behind the wheel of a sports car and then exceed the speed limit to past 100 mph just to show off, lose control and end up in a hospital with a jeopardidzed career?
Drive slow men, unless you are in the bedroom. :p

Golf season!

Canucks are going to have lots of time on the golf links this there. What are the chances that the Canucks won't even make the playoffs? Gulp. Sad but true, a little birdie told me.
