Score Habs 5 Flames 4

Shots Habs 36 Flames 24

Power Play Goals Habs 3 for 7 Flames 2 for 8

Short handed Goal Habs 1 Flames 0

While the Habs are off to a flying start (3-0-2), the Flames (2-3-1) are going in the other direction. If tonight is any indication, Flames fans are in for a long season. With the Tanguay experiment failing so far (he was almost invisible tonight), they need Kipper to stand on his head every game just to be close. I still think they blew it with the Tanguay deal. What they needed was a centre to feed the puck to Iginla. What did they get, a bloody left winger and one who used to be fed by Joe Sakic. Well, all I can tell you is that Langkow is no Sakic. Go figure. I also noticed that some of their team speed have gone. They are 6 games into the season and the coach is already skating them to death. That tactic works better if you are the GM and coach, too bad Sutter kicked himself upstairs. Maybe he saw this coming, what a smart guy. Coupled with their powerless play (they came into tonight's game with a league leading 97% in power play futility), the future does not look good for them in the ultra competive Northwest division.

Sexxxygirl, care to remind us why they are so "superior on many many levels" again?;) :D

What's with the fans that like to hate on other teams? No offence to you, just in general, I honestly dont get it. Ribbing a buddy is one thing, but some times I just dont get it. Having it out for dirty player is cool, but what has the team done to be hated on? :(

Sorry, just my rant for the day. I end up reading the comments on TSN stories and this is where it takes me :p

no kidding, remember the flames started 4-7 last year. The flames have a solid team and are starting to put the puck in the net, I feel pretty good that Kipper will find his form and the d-men will regain their identity.

yah in this day and age where so much money is being pumped into the business(NHL had revenues of 2.1 billion and its consider a weak league) its no wonder teams and fans are so quick to judge. sports is littered with teams that start off poor and make it to the finals. or teams that are supposed to be strong get blown out(take the yankees of this year).

Anyone see this game? Did the Habs control most of the play
and/or dominate, as the SOG might suggest? Or was it a very
close game as the lead changes & final score might argue?

Tonight Montreal plays again in Chicago. Who will win?

BTW i heard some folks at a local Macs saying the Oilers
dominated in their 2-1 win over Vancouver.

That would be 24 glorious years actually. If we live in the past, I am wondering where you live with your one cup and all.

Nothing like a sensational headline to draw all you frustrated Flames fans out. If you are pissed off about it, good because it shows you care. But this thread is mainly in response to Sexxxygirl's "The Calgary Flames are superior on many many levels thread" before they have actually played a game this season.

Well, I am not a frustrated Flames fan. I just not could understand how a one goal game equates to being smoked. Looking back over the last few seasons, they have been slow out of the blocks. I am not worried. If it continues into November, than I might start to worry.

Your right, Iginla needs a center, something we have not had since Otto. That is my one frustration, they can not seem to find good centers.

Try being a Canucks fan. Have we ever had that marquee center? Maybe Thomas Gradin maybe Cliff Ronning.

BTW Otto wasn't much of a center. He was big and he was good at kicking pucks into nets (yes still bitter about that one) but he wasn't that good of a center. Nieuwendyk was a great center, Doug Gilmour was a great center, Joel Otto.... not so much.

ha ha...see ya in the finals. if montreal Makes it lol:D
It is Okay sexxygirl to be a Calgary Flames fan:cool: . Wilde is living in the past along with his Canadiens along with their out dated sweaters. The past is past and you have to think and live for the future.
Canadiens use to have a dynasty but of lately those cups are well in the past.
It is nice to see different teams winning cup every year. It shows there is some balance in the players throughout the NHL league. It is difficult to buy a Stanley Cup like in the past with the New York Rangers.
