In my life as a dom I've seen hundreds of naked men - on occasion, some have noticable warts especially around the genitals. I'm wondering what SPs do in this situation, knowing a condom does not protect against HPV - skin to skin contact can transmit warts, genital to genital. Considering genital warts are a very dangerous STD in women (linked to cancer?), I'm wondering if SPs in general just say no to warts? What about men with warts, do they hope the SP won't notice or care? If the SP doesn't say no, is it a risk they are willing to take, or simply ignorance?

SPs, what do you do in this situation? Offer non FS for a different rate, say no, or simply ignore it?

Nurse, how safe is it to have safe sex with a man with genital warts?

Hi sadielady

The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which causes genital warts is a very common sexually transmitted infection (STI). Many people who are infected would not necessarily have any visible warts and they can still transmit the virus to their partner.

Because the warts can be outside the area the condom covers, it is still possible to transmit the virus even when a condom is used. But a recent study showed evidence that condoms provided protection from HPV in some cases. So it appears that condoms could provide some protection.

Most types of HPV are not serious and do not cause cancer. They have found that the types of HPV that usually cause visible genital warts are not associated with cancer.

But there are a few strains of HPV that can cause cervical cancer. The HPV that causes cancer would not show up as visible warts so you would not know that you have been infected. Anyone who is sexually active could be at risk. A PAP smear is the test that detects cervical cancer. This means that all sexually active women should have regular PAP smears.

If you have visible warts there is treatment available.

For more information on HPV have a look at a past thread we did.

Thank you for the answer. Just one more question, if you would?

Are warts that are not on the genitals also contagious? If I am having strap-on sex and my thigh contacts a wart on the guy's butt, is it possible I'll get a wart? This isn't an STD, is it? Even so it's still a health issue that concerns me - the thought of it grosses me out. I think I'll have clients put tape or bandaids over their body warts from now on! Ah yes... I think I might like that. And feel a lot safer as well.

If a client ever gave me a wart, someone would HAVE to be punished!

Hi sadielady

There are approx 100 different types of The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which causes warts. Warts are spread by direct contact, so any wart on the body can transfer to someone else by skin to skin contact. Generally warts that live on a certain area of the body don’t like to live on other parts. This is why we do not usually see genital warts spread to the hands.

Visible warts on the body are not a threat to health, and do not lead to illness. For social reasons warts can be embarrassing because we do not like the look of them. Sometimes warts can be painful e.g. warts on the feet.

A small number of HPV subtypes can cause cervical and genital cancers. These are not the visible warts that we would see on the body.

We generally do not see warts on the body other than the genitals as a sexually transmitted infection. They can pass from any skin to skin contact e.g. children playing. It is just that sex allows you to be very close to someone, and because you are generally naked there is a lot of skin to skin contact.

Here is my experiential wisdom on this topic. I unknowingly had warts, saw many sp's, and not one ever mentioned it. I think safety can take the backseat to persuit of $ for some sp's, and pooners alike. A misdiagnosis had me believing i had a mole, and hence i was happily pooning along with this visible growth, read: wart, and not one sp reacted whatsoever. Since i received proper diagnosis and treatment i am more leery of this hobby
