Here's something I learned recently that I had not thought of - for pooners and SPs that participate in facials, it is super high risk for the SP: HIV can be transmitted very effectively directly through sperm entering the eye. Facials are definitely not safe sex. Is this something that is commonly known?

Hi sadielady

It is true that HIV, as well as hepatitis B, can be transmitted through the mucous membranes e.g. eyes, nose. There are also cases were the eyes have been infected with chlamydia after contact with semen.

I have taken a look at the BCCDC “blood and body fluid exposure management manual” and they recommend that you rinse the eyes well with water as soon in possible after contact with semen.

It would be a lower risk for HIV and hepatitis B if someone ejaculated on healthy intact skin e.g. the breasts. We also recommend getting the hepatitis B vaccine.

It was my understanding that HIV is contracted through blood and not other body fluids. Do you have scientific evidence that HIV can be contracted through body fluids other than blood?

Hi lesbian hunter

There is a large amount of scientific evidence that shows that semen, vaginal fluids, breast milk and blood all have large enough concentrations of the HIV to cause infection.

One thing that we were not clear on in our last post is that while there is a risk of HIV transmission with facials it is a lower risk than unprotected anal or vaginal sex.

If you do get semen in your eyes, try not to rub them and rinse them well with water.

Are there any safety concerns for a male to consider when doing an uncovered "Russian" on a provider? I can see the concerns for the provider but can't think of any on the client side. Do you agree with that?

Thanks,
