Is the following statement true?

Ghonnorrhea, syphylis, chlamydia, and herpes can live undetected in the back of the throat, and in the urethra, to be passed to other sex partners. AIDS can piggyback on top of some of these diseases and infect the host, as well.
They go on to say that this is passed on thru BBBJ...

from what i have been told by other health professionals and the
literature they gave me to read, yes you can get some STI's from
BBBJ, but the danger is much higher for the giver than the receiver.

to date, still no confirmed cases of AIDs from receiving BBBJ but some
risk from giving.

so, if you get a bbbj, you can get syphillus, chlamydia and herpes (not certain
about gonnorhea) but very slight risk of AIDs, but that doesn't mean NO risk.

Oral Sex and STI risk:

The most common infections that can be transmitted via oral sex are gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes and possibly chlamydia.

• Gonorrhea and Chlamydia a found in the back of the throat. Gonorrhea is more commonly spread via oral sex than Chlamydia.
• Syphilis sores can be in the mouth, throat or on the lips and are spread by direct contact which can occur with oral sex
• Herpes can be passed through oral sex, but the sores are more commonly found on the lips rather than in the throat

It is not uncommon to notice no symptoms with all of the above mentioned STI’s (sexually transmitted infections). That is why getting tested regularly is recommended.

HIV risk:

STI’s such as herpes or syphilis can increase the risk of HIV.
Generally the risk of infection is related to an open sore from an outbreak, which can happen with herpes and syphillis. Open sores contain pus which will have high concentrations of HIV. Open sores make it easier for HIV to enter the bloodstream.
Infections such as Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia may increase risk because of inflammation and pus that can be present during infection.
Generally oral sex is lower risk for HIV but factors such as sores, throat infections and bleeding gums may increase risk

Hope that answers your questions

I used to see a sp that had receeding gums. Her roots were exposed which she said was painful so we was considering dental reconstructive surgery. I never saw her gums bleed but I reasoned that she was higher risk because they likely did bleed and she offered bbbj regularly. It was a red flag for me!

If those STI's reside in the back of the throat and mouth does it follow that deep french kissing can also pass on some of them?

You might have a mild case of urethritis. More info here...

It could be theoretically possible that these infections could pass from deep French kissing, but we have found that the chance of this happening is very low.

I have included a link to the thread were we discussed DFK.

How does one ensure they do not have any nasty surprises in their throat?
Just come to one of our clinics or go to your family doctor for a checkup.

There is a test to check for gonorrhea in the throat and they can also do a visual inspection to check for any open sores. From our experience most people who have gonorrhea in the throat experience no symptoms.

It is hard to diagnose conditions over the internet. With the “urinal pain” I’m assuming that it is hurting when you urinate (pee). This is referred to as urethritis and two common causes of this are gonorrhea and chlamydia.

It is great that your tests came back negative. We find to have an accurate urine test you need to wait at least a week after the sexual encounter you are concerned about, have not urinated for 2 hours and collect the first drops of urine into the container.

Another condition that can cause you to experience pain when urinating is non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU). I have included a link to our website about this condition.

http://www.stdresource.com/disease/index.php?page=edit&id=2&action=viewfull

It is sexually transmitted and can be treated with antibiotics.

Our recommendation would be for you to re-visit the clinic if you are still having symptoms; they can check for NGU and offer you treatment if needed.

Please comment if you need any clarification or what us to expand on a topic.

info

nurse, thx for the info. since the first signs (lasted for about3-5 days), i've never had symptons and its been a number of months since then so i'm guessing it must be fine. u know, the doctor i saw only spends about a 1/2 minute with you and you get nothing more than 'you're test is negative now go away' (in and out of the office so fast i didnt know what happened). eeeesh, now i can understand the inefficiency of the medical system. anyhow thats a thread for another day.
