I'll be in Winnipeg March 3rd to the 6th. To think i'm leaving +3 weather for -27 thats a head shake. Is there special muskrat goat fur thats need to stay warm? Maybe Squirrel could loan me one of his fur coats.

Anyway i want to make the best of it so is Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm open during winter months?

If not what else is there to do in Winnipeg on a Friday or a Saturday afternoon/evening?

I want to have a fun time in Winnipeg so any tourist tips will be appreciated.

I also need a hotel. So can anyone recommended a hotel close to Disneyland or anywhere near the fun area? I guess that would be downtown Winnipeg. Thanx in advance. --- Kev

Try the Clarion, it's next to Polo Park, which is the main shopping center. There's a nice Earl's next door. From the Clarion you just walk east to the Palomino club for cougar-rama.
You don't want to go downtown, especially at night. It's just not safe. If you are at the Ramada and you go the the MTS centre via the walkway, okay, but don't go wandering around at night, especially by yourself! Portage Place in downtown has security guards in kevlar vests, does that tell you anything?

Don't scare the boy Westwoody. The weather will be enough of a shock. Generally if you mind your own business you'll be fine.

If you want Kev I'd be glad to show you around the local strip clubs ... such as they are. Gentleman's club is the nicest and most expensive. None offer lap dances on any sort of regular basis. Best you can hope for is $20 air dance.

There are a number of very fine ladies you could try ... check the review section or pm some of the local members for recommendations. Massage parlours are few and not exceptional. Nevadas and Broadways offer full service, but you need a membership at Nevadas. Executive Bath is nice, but full service isn't on offer.

Is Winnipeg worse than Vancouver for crime?

Palomino club for cougar-rama sounds like an interesting place.

It's concentrated in two specific areas, both adjacent to downtown. Stay out of them and you'll be okay. I have a spare IIIa vest in 48 I can loan you.

The Norwood is good too. Lots of off-duty SP's go there, you just have to know when (one pm'd me with an invite, that's how I know).

My Thoughts About Winnipeg

Minuses...

Its still to cold even if it is only -4. Granted thats better than -35 like it was a week ago or -17 on the day i arrived.

I new it was going to be cold but i didn't think about snow. Theres way to much snow for my liking.

Its no ones fault really but i was hoping to attend a Moose game. Unfortunately they're on the road.

They moved Disneyland to Orlando. Who new? I guess i didn't get the office memo.:)

Pluses...

Winnipeg has an excellant array of restraurants and bistros to choose from. Pick a country and they'll have the cuisine covered. Needless to say i was very impressed.

One of my new favourite beers is Fort Garry Dark Ale. Yummy

I'm thankful that the snow and freezing conditions are in Winnipeg because at least the locals know how to drive in the stuff. Just a day of those conditions in Vancouver and the city shuts down.

Winnipeg reminds my of Vancouver years ago. Its just large enough that it has everything that anyone could want in a major city.

There is a number of East Indian and Africans residing in Winnipeg and the few i spoke to were very happy living there, so i guess one gets use to the cold and snow.

I'll go back but during spring or summer.

Not so...lapdances at the Gent's Club when the owner is in the mood to allow it, which was everyday when I was there. Laps are $30.

I know you're already back Kev...give us a review of the Palomino if you went there! I kept driving by and laughing at the 'Yummy Mummy Night' sign.

"What ignorant bullcrap, says dirtydan." Oh please enlighten me dirtydan, tell me what you think?

When i left Vancouver it was +9 and when i arrived in Winnipeg it was - 17. That was Friday March 3 rd. The locals told me that - 17 isn't cold you should have been here the week before when it was -35 and colder. So the ignorance i throw back at your face. I was in Winnipeg (Home of my mother) were where you? Heres a tip take your 2 middle fingers and point them skywards. Well what do ya know its stereo to your thoughts.:)

Sorry Scarlett i never made it to any of the clubs. I was offered a tour of the local strip clubs, (Thank you tom for that) but because of circumstance i had to decline.:(

As i posted i have to come back.

I live in Manitoba. Been here all my life. I've been through a hell of a lot colder weather than a piddlely -17C. I've worked outside when it has been
-40C, colder when you include the wind chill factor. I have great respect for those that live much further to the north and get a lot more colder weather than southern Manitoba.

Listen to some people from outside of Manitoba, like you for example, that come here during the winter and one gets the impression they going to endure the worst thing their life. I have little patience for such sterotyping. Manitobans function just as well as anyone else does in this country. It all comes down to dressing correctly and when you do so, you hardly feel the cold.

Travelling to Winnipeg and finding it cold at -17 is equal to you travelling to Vancouver and saying, "wow its warm outside." Its 10 degrees today. It has nothing to do with being ignorant or sterotyping Manitobans. My mothers from Manitoba for christ sake.

You read something i posted and misconstrued it completely. Go back and reread what i posted. I was very positive about my experience back east.

Forget it Kev, from here, if it is east of the Rockys, its Eastern Canada!

Winnipeg doesn't really have seasons as Kev would think of them:there's eight months of winter and four months of bad tobogganing.
