Just wondering, how congested is the IT industry in Vancouver? I am asking this because I, for the life of me, cannot find any entry level positions in my field, and the ones I do find usually have about 1,000 applicants. I do have a couple of months experience under my belt, and just recently achieved Microsoft Certified Professional status if that helps but so far no such luck.

I noticed in around 99 that the government had a bunch of sponsor programs for people to take all that Microsoft acredited bullshit and even then it seemed clear that after the millenium hysteria the IT boom would be over. I'm sure Microsoft made a huge pile of cash though.

I thought ROTCOD was a "doctor", or at least that's what we were led to believe.

Always looking

We are always looking for someone qualified which seems hard to find. We seem to always run into people that don't want to get their hands dirty or want to "supervise"

I never said I was a doctor, it was you that made that assumption.

Although lately I have been advertising myself as a 'computer physician'

There are lots of IT jobs out there, most of the entry level work you would find is with the head hunters and temp agencies, take alook in the phone book, and start calling each one up. You may have to start off in a call center or some low paying jobs doing entry level IT work, but it is a start and if you stick with it, it will pay off.

As well, in your downtime, continue your training, and make sure you actually know what you put down on your resume. We had this one guy who claimed to have completed all his MCSE training, and he could not figure out how to format a diskette....
