A while back, PERB's parent board, TERB, created a new forum in the General Area called "Politics and International Affairs".

I'm totally sick and tired of seeing so many threads and posts in The Lounge devoted to US bashing, Canada bashing, Bush bashing, etc. This is especially annoying because these threads are seemingly endless and are dominated by only a handful of members (15 to 20 tops; often less than 10).

I'm not taking sides with wildonion, Herb_The_Perb, Ace 85, dittman or a few others. Yes, I have opinions. No, I don't come to PERB to debate political issues. I come here primarily to indulge my interest in matters sexual, and to escape to a fantasy world from the real world . Discussing heavy-duty real world issues in The Lounge detracts from that objective.

I'm not proposing that anyone be banned, just that political issues be relegated to a separate forum where those members can rant, pontificate and flame each other to their hearts' content. Doing so on TERB helped immensely to make The Lounge a more hospitable and friendly place.

Or...don't read threads that are political...

If you find yourself powerless to do this, there is AA, NA, SAA...

Clinton is making head-way at the latter with Monica...

sure, but I stand by my earlier suggestion:

I think you can go a step forward. Besides one on Politics, you can have one called Fantasy World or maybe Poilitical Circle Jerks for the right wingers who seem to luv to talk to each other & confirm their foolishness.

If you were right about everything you said and I agreed with everything you said, I would still find you annoying.

Seems reasonable to me. I don't actually look through The Lounge for posts, I just check for new posts, so this method would by default allow people to ignore my brilliant/jerkoff political opinions.

Politics is more fun face to face.....

Hiding behind handles means you don't have to stand up and be counted.
You can bet this lady wouldn't be afraid to speak her mind....up close and personal.... :D

Where you've seen her:
Born in Jersey and raised in Texas, this Polish stunt babe has more than a decade of Hollywood stunt experience under her belt.

Badass babe:
"It was always a challenge growing up, but boys learned pretty quickly that I can hold my own. One time this jackass in Mexico punched a guy friend of mine with brass knuckles. So I grabbed him and threw him up against the wall and hit him in the face."

Chick's flicks:
Her stunt movie credits include The Rundown and current sci-fi thriller The Island.

Cartoon networking:
"I'm a total goof! My nickname in high school was 'Goofy.'"

It never ceases to amaze me how many posters here try to 'control' the board and mold it into what they think is best for the rest of us.

Why bother? The beauty and charm of the lounge is precisely the variety of discussion contained in its threads. Some are lively, interesting and engaging. Others are putrid, fedid and stillborn. Just pick and choose what you want to read. Life is full of choices. Nobody here is forcing anybody to open any given thread.

If you don't like a particular class of thread, here are some easy to use tips:

  • Don't read them

  • Use the "Ignore" feature to virtually eliminate the posters that bother you.

Time to move on.

Not such a great idea.

If we do this, shouldn't we also have seperate boards for televison shows and ads? (I hate TV!)
And then for hawkey and the CFL?
And then one for jokes.
And then one for HFS's threads?
And then for something else?

On the other hand, do we really need 15 topics about the Katrina debacle, or 1 topic a day about GW Bush?
